Probably around 60-70 but makes a huge butt dyno difference. With BM3 you can get their flexfuel kit which mine arrives Monday and run multimap tune which is super nice and make another 30-40 on e50. This is where I’m gonna stop on stock clutch.
Good to see a response to "Manual Trans"
So you don't recommend more than about 520whp for the standard clutch? There's a video on another thread that vaguely says upgrade required when power levels approaching 700-800hp.

This would put the brakes on ideas for a turbo upgrade. I had in my head I'd be satisfied with 600whp. If ~500 is the limit, that's not possible as I don't want to upgrade the clutch.

Any other experience with how much power a standard clutch is good for?

That really helps! Thank you! When I send the ecu to Femto, do they install the software when they have the computer or does it get installed by the tuner after the unit is returned to the states? Is the recommendation to still purchase an extra ecu for the process?
Femto will unlock the DME, once it's back to you, buy bootmod3 and flash the car.

Just out of curiousity, most people seem to recommend bootmod3 now for these cars but I feel like when the Supra first was released, all you ever heard about was ECUTEK. Is there something about bootmod3 thats better? My understanding is its better to pick whoever to tune your car (i.e. botti, Jesse, etc) and then they just use whatever platform they prefer.

ECUTEK requires a fully unlocked ECU. Which means having to find a donor ECU and send it to Finland on pretty much any Supra 2021 and newer. The 2020's could just be bench unlocked and ECUTEK tuned by your favorite shop.

Bm3 & MHD use partial unlock, which doesn't require a donor ECU. It's also currently impossible to fully unlock the manuals. So even if you did have the money & a spare ECU, ECUTEK is not an option on the MT's. Also Bm3 has updated their software so that it is closer now to ECUTEK in terms of tuning features, so for most people with a 2021 and newer a clone just isn't worth it.

oh, interesting. This stuff is kind of complicated. I have been doing my research and thought I had a better grasp but I did not know it is impossible to fully unlock manual cars. I thought you could still send your ECU to Finland for the FEMTO unlock even with an MT car. Glad you told me because I was about to plop down a bunch of money to do the FEMTO unlock.

I have an AA catted downpipe that needs to get installed and an SP1R exhaust and HKS intake on the way and was going to look into stuff similar to what CES Motorsport is doing in those thic whips videos I shared in this thread but then decided to just do the full FEMTO unlock. So I guess back to those options then.

I appreciate you taking the time to share with me ?

@Jmanlevan you definitely can still do Femto with a manual. Just only MHD or Bm3. Femto is the only way currently to partially unlock the ECU for that.

The only thing you can't do with a manual is ECUTEK because the manuals have a different DME that hasn't been fully cracked

Sorry if I was unclear on the last message

oh okay. I guess my question is then why would anybody pay the price for FEMTO for a partial unlock on the MT cars when you can do a bench unlock?

I guess I should just do a bench unlock and use BM3 then. Just gotta find a local place in CO to do it.

You HAVE to send the DME to Femto with a Supra 2021 and newer. They are the ONLY people who can partially unlock the DME and make it possible to flash a tune on the car (MHD or Bm3).

The ONLY Supras that can bench unlock stateside are 2020's, OR Supras who cloned their DME from their car onto a 2020 donor DME (which you also have to do through Femto) (MTs CANNOT be cloned onto a 2020 DME).

Therefore if you want a tuned car as a manual owner. You must go through Femto, and the only option with them is a partial unlock for calibration tuning through MHD or Bm3.

I'd pick bootmod3 for daily drivers, its the most user-friendly tune with all the features you are going to need

I’m running BM3 it’s stage 2 93 and it’s a ton of fun. BM3 flex fuel kit on the way, should be everything I’ll need on e50
Are you AT or 6MT and if you're manual have you had to upgrade the clutch yet?

HP isn't the factor here, it's torque.

I've been running 490ft/lb+ on my manual for a few months without issue, however I drive it with some mechanical sympathy and an eye on not abusing the clutch.

dont you need to select and purchase the tuning license before sending to Femto? I always thought they ask which tuning platform e.g. BM3, MHD, or BM3 CustomRom prior to sending along which the email address you registered it with. Saving money to get FEMTO. If I can spend the $500 on BM3 CustomRom separately at another time it would be helpful cost wise.
