A pet peeve of mine is when the car is not in sport mode the right side exhaust opening is closed. Doesn’t look balanced from behind (may not be a big deal to others). I don’t like the looks of the shiny silver disk in the opening when closed. A bmw thing.

After some research … I elected to select sport mode, opening the right exhaust flap… then pulled the fuse located the right side of the rear hatch area. See fuse panel image below.

I also circled the fuse tool to aid in removing the fuse noted on the left. Number 203 fuse but not marked. The removal doesn’t throw any dash lights or side effects.

The positive, the exhaust sounds more throaty without burning the extra fuel while driving conservatively (freeways, etc). The flap remains open now at all times.

I hope this information is helpful to others.

I tried BimmerLink to open the valve, which only works while the app is running and the dongle plugged in (a BMW thing). I found the drone while cruising at freeway speeds highly annoying. So I’m ok with the side exhaust being closed - I can’t see it while driving anyway…

I never noticed that the exhaust did that, but I don't think I've ever really looked. I think I will do this though.

If you have a JB4, you can permanently leave the flap open no matter what drive mode you are in.

Or, without any fuse pulling or aftermarket anything, you can set 'engine' to 'sport' and everything else to normal in sport individual mode. A little tweak to throttle response (which is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) and leave the valve open all the time.

~ personally easier to just pull the fuse.
But you would loose functionality..? :hmm:

Usually I keep things because they serve some sort of function.. wait, why am I here then?

My previous F80 I used to be able to get in the car, change to sport mode , press the throttle pass the kickdown button and the flaps would open, allowing a glorious GTS startup roar that was coded in with Bootmod3.
Too bad the Supra does not work the same way.
It does do the start up roar of it's warmed up as. You have it coded to start up in sport mode though.
Not sure if I can live with the flaps opened all the time

~ Yes I have mine programmed to start in sport mode but the flap would stay closed until it slightly warmed up then it would automatically open.
