I see y'all replying to phil and I gotta wonder why you just don't have him on your ignore list yet.

I'm sure he's in here gaslighting people but I can't see a damn thing he posts. It's great.
On your ignore list but still getting a reaction from you. Perfect:lol:

Imagine ignoring people simply because you disagree with their opinion. ? The snowflake is strong with this one.
So fcuking true man. I’m so glad that translates across the ocean the same! I want to hear all the opinions so I can put my big boy pants on and make my own decisions ?
I’m following because my wife is still thinking about a M2 manual. I’d assumethe gearbox and clutch are the same or close to it (and I’d probably be wrong ?). Plus a good friend is getting one in July. And I have an everything car addiction ? Lemme hear it all ?

100%.

I mean, I'm happy to block someone if they're out and out abusive but I relish differing opinions, especially if they are rooted in factual evidence. Every time there's a disagreement, I grow because my thinking changes.. sometimes subtly and sometimes wholesale. Having sycophants around you must be mind numbingly boring!

All forums tend to be pretty much the same in one fundamental these days and that is if you have a differing view then you're not part of the "club" and must therefore be admonished. It's just a reflection and magnification of our western culture at present.

Mine is built September of 2023. Maybe I just got unlucky lmao

On a separate note, can anyone confirm if the ClutchMasters hydraulic release bearing is worth the cost over a CDV delete?
That hydraulic bearing should also have a shorter throw for the pedal but how much it actually is in practice I have yet to see any real world data. Phil pretty much covered the rest already. Comes down to how well you set it up and if the difference in throw is actually noticeable. You can also get a stop for the oem setup and possibly have a similar experience.

Phil, one of the beauties of this forum is getting input from all types of sources, and hearing different people's opinions, I think you are all good as well as totally entitled to the opinion you share, and I agree with a lot of what you said.

In the end in a situation like this, it will be subjective and that's okay, that's why we are all here to be a part of this community, and have relevant discourse, and if we don't always agree, even better, that means we are actually engaging in conversation. This thread should be a place where we all can add our input and opinion on the subject of clutches on this platform.'

I still believe that while my car did have an issue, that is going to be more based on a bad batch of parts+ combined with the tricky CDV, and some people just not having the skill they think do when it comes to operating a third pedal.

You want to remove the gearbox to fit it or are you doing the clutch as well? I'm a bit meh about internal clutch slave cylinders. They are subject to more heat, harder to bleed, and if you get a leaking seal then it's gearbox out time. Advantage? no pivot arm( which never really fail) and no clutch arm pivot point which never really give an issue either. Like many of the latest designs the real benefit is more to the manufacturer than the customer. The upside for the stock slave is easy access and replacement and no additional hydraulic plumbing for bleeding so less leak points.
Phil
unfortunately for me the internal slave of my cm1000 just failed.

parked the car last night in perfect condition. This am the clutch went to the floor when I tried to start it.

1600 miles on the new clutch. 0 launches barley any pulls either as the tune isn’t completely finished yet

Your boy outright admitted that he has no experience with a car before and after a clutch delay valve delete. He's just imagining what it's like in his head and telling the rest of us that we're the ones imagining things when deleting the CDV improves shifting experience.

It's a weird hill to die on, but at least he's dead.

Update part ????:

Installed the CM FX400SS 8-puck and a steel flywheel. Also installed the E90 slave cylinder.

Good news: clutch doesn't slip anymore
Bad news: the pedal is heavier than yo mama

Not sure what to do to make it lighter. Its less daily drivable now unfortunately.

You could try their hydro bearing but not sure how much of a difference it will make.

Hydro bearing failed on mine and it’s internal which is a ***** to fix when it fails.

the pedal does feel nice though

Here are pictures from the OEM parts for those curious.

Looks like the clutch has been overheated for whatever reason which has caused the pressure plate to lose it's flat face and take on a slightly concave profile which has caused the friction plate wear to be greater on the OD.
