I think a good portion of those ppl come with the pre-conceived notion that BMW cars are unreliable. As Dave Ramsey would say, a money pit. I believe the king of reliability, Scotty Kilmer, also called the MKV junk mainly b/c of the BMW influence.

For some, they don't feel the MKV is a proper successor of the Supra lineage. No matter what it accomplishes. I personally think most of them are stuck in the era of the Japanese sports car boom. We're in different times now, and German automakers are dominant at putting out exciting stuff.

I hate that Toyota sold out the Supra name without shame. However, I agree, BMW probably did a better job making the Supra than Toyota could've done by themselves. And why do people complain about the BMW interior? Have these people sat in any current Toyota product (not including Lexus products)? To have a discounted BMW M2 Comp killer is a win for all of us.
I don't see how it can be considered a sell out, it's a limited production car
A better example is the Electric Mustang

Maybe this is a stretch here, but i would say if you were old enough and were financially able to buy a mkiv supra new in the 90’s and you didn’t then you have no right to complain about the bmw thing now. The joint venture was only necessitated by its predecessors weak sales and were lucky it was brought back at all. Everyone wants to complain about it but nobody wants to put their money where their mouth is lol

a lot of people running their mouths, they drive shit boxes. Compliments to me always come from people with more expensive cars like Porsche, Audi, bmw, and etc.

Yep, almost as annoying as people who always bring up the C8 when they see a Supra (or sometimes, any sports car for that matter). Almost.
The bringing up of the C8 when talking about a supra is annoying too. They are not in the same class of car or even close to the same price. Even if someone bought a complete base c8 (which I imagine is hard to find) you are still talking about a car that is $10k more than the supra and with just a couple options puts it in the $70-80k real fast. I do like the c8 and if I was looking to spend that type of money on a car I would at least go look at them closer but they just aren't lol

So much this. I don’t think people get that base model will pretty much be non existent. I forgot the name of the first level performance package (Z51 maybe?) has to be equipped to hit that advertised 0-60 and then it’s definitely above 65k

On a related note it has been shown that a MkV with only a DP & Tune has better performance than a stock C8 :)

It does annoy me, but I have found it is 100% internet trolls that do it, and the response I get in person is very, very different. I also kind of made it a joke and embraced the hate with a "Powered by M" plate frame and a custom "ZFAUX" license plate. I have found that usually shuts it down pretty quick if it comes up.

This is gonna get a little heavy....it's like if you were infertile and you gave your wife to your friend to make a baby for you. Is there no shame in that? If you cannot do it on your own, maybe it is better to be without. Especially from an Asian company/culture where pedigree is so important, "adoption" just does the Supra nameplate no justice. Perhaps the Supra nameplate is not so sacred or Toyota just doesn't give a shit about the Supra name anymore. Maybe it was desperation.

I wonder how much more or less successful this car would be if the name wasn't Supra.
