hardest part for me was taking off the v-band clamp. Other than that, half of my time was spent looking for dropped nuts and washers

The install was easy, done in 50 mins because I had to take it back off and put the gasket on, I didnā€™t notice it dropped off. I figured out the battery was dead before I started, the window didnā€™t roll down when I opened the door to pop the hood. Frustratingā€¦

Time for a nice battery replacement. Can shave good weight in the rear.

For anyone following this, I got my car started. I donā€™t know why the battery drained but I have a charger on it meow. I drove it around the block, got all kinds of codes, rear diff, steering, traction etcā€¦so I guess if the battery dies on these cars itā€™s a big deal? On the bright side, it sounds good, lol. Iā€™ll have the boys in the shop clear the codes tomorrow and hopefully itā€™ll be ready for a custom tune šŸ¤ž

Iā€™m getting my downpipe tomorrow and I donā€™t know if I should garage install it or have someone do it. So my question is: for the guys whoā€™ve installed their own downpipes, Was it easy for you or do you wish you wouldā€™ve taken it to a shop?

cheers!!
So today I installed my downpipe intake and charge pipe. It was a pain in my A@#, Until I found a couple of little tricks I didn't know. To take the clips off you have to pop the tab out then push it down a little then it'll slide ride out. I wish I paid someone else to do this, But if you want the best work do it yourself. My advice to you would be 1. get a new DP gasket 2. Buy a new ventilation hose line 3. Use a proper lift like me 4. Take the exhaust off to remove downpipe 5. Try your best to stay calm after you burn your hands 9999 times. I work as an assistant European car specialist mainly Porsche and I'm a dumb 16-year-old soooooo what do I know?

Glad you got it goin. But yeah, all bimmers are like that. Low battery causes all sorts of shit. Should clear right up when you get some decent charge in it.

No offense meant but idk how this got so complicated for you. There is ZERO reason you should have had to remove the entire exhaust. Also just because Iā€™m curious how do you afford this car at 16 years old? When I was 16 I had an old pos, I think that makes you the youngest owner which I thought was @Mason

Iā€™ve seen videos of people removing all the plates underneath the car, exhaust etcā€¦this was so easy I was surprised! I did it in well under an hour, Jack stands, creeper and I had to take it back off and put the gasket on that fell offā€¦

Simple and easy. Can take 30m or less once your used to it. Plenty of guides and videos out there.

Just installed the catted active AutoWerke downpipe on a couple of ramp just lifting the front. Lol talk about tight space. But she got done in a couple of hoursā€¦ given that I already had a Eventuri intake and stock one was out of the way I had enough space to work on the clamp and gasket from the top to ensure proper fit as well.

as far as batteries are concerned.. Iā€™ve already had my bmw battery replaced with a Toyota one by the dealership after 2 weeks of ownership. I kept getting the battery signal and it wouldnā€™t hold a charge. Now I use a trickle charger when Iā€™m not home and driving her and have no issues. Itā€™s perfect. Hooking it up is super easy as well.

Quick update, because I tried using jumper cables on the battery it sounds like I messed something up! Theyā€™re digging into it to try and find what the problem is but if anyone has had this issue before let me knowā€¦
