I’ve only had the car 2 weeks so still doing all the research. I’ve heard of BM3 but I haven‘t seen as much data on it as I do ECUTEK or JB4 to be fair.

I paid $300 for the JB4 on like day 3 of having the car. The Dealer I bought it from they have 7 people on their team that drive Supra’s.

To be fair as well the TRC car with just a custom ECU tune only went 12.12 after that the mods change but on there tune and catless downpipe they went 12.78 and with Meth and drag radials 12.58 so my JB4 Map 3 is right there with a custom ECU tune. Hard to justify $2k after unlocking and all that jazz to end up at basically the same performance.

JB4 does work. Does it work as good or is it as cool or give you as much to fiddle with as custom tune, no it doesn’t. Did it drop a full second off my ET and give me a 3.3 0-60 with basically 2 performance mods. Hell yes. it’s not slouch And I’ve learned in all my years of racing and building cars there is ALWAYS someone faster, there is ALWAYS the factory freak car that smokes everyone else with nothing done. That’s ok. My car runs pretty damn good and getting to see real world comparisons against other Supra’s in the same time and place and conditions and to beat them was pretty damn good and JB4 did well.

I would be interested in BM3 since you can flash it I like the idea of a bit more control of timing and fueling so I’ll go do my homework on that and see. At $575 doesn’t seem bad but I gotta pay $500 to get the ECU unlocked so now it’s $1100 and lets be fair am I gonna get that much more over what I have now? Hard to say…
Oh yea, totally get the reason why you did it, not being critical there at all! Was just letting you know about the flashing options. Are you sure your ecu is locked?

Also wanted to Add. I’ve only spent $700 on mods. The car came with the Autowerke DP when I bought it so didn’t have to buy that. I got the JB4 for $300 with Bluetooth and I got the Injen intake and charge pipe on Black Friday from PowerHouse Performance for $326. I did buy 2 tires and put rims on but those didn’t help performance.

Point being there are a lot of stuff out there if you search around you can find some good deals. So when people are like whey didn’t you go custom tune, because custom tune is $2000 with everything that has to be done. My JB4 cost $300. Even if I got someone to tune it custom on JB4 still less than half the cost of a custom tune and I can make it stock in a few minutes.

TO my knowledge there are no handheld flash tuners for the Supra is that a correct statement? Everything has to be done by the person tuning it?
No doubt that’s a good price for the performance.

Just wanted you emphasize that you have something that 2021+ are going through great lengths to get.

I love the gauges, logging, and quick map changes of the JB4. But as your goals change AND the aftermarket for this platform evolves, there are more flexible/capable tuning platforms. I’ve gone the JB4 first then flash route on another platform, so I get it!

I do like the flash options but I don’t want to be beholden to the local ECUTEK dealer or have to keep taking the ECU out of the car. So flash options don’t appeal to me a great deal for the lack of flexibility, which is Why the JB4 works great for me. There is nothing worse than trying to schedule around a shop when the car isn’t running right or needs an update or has to go to the dealer and get returned to stock and then reflashed and all that cost every time you do it. I have to drive almost an hour each way to Induction for example anytime the tune needs anything or I need a change. Just a hassle I don’t want.

Definitely hearing everyone’s advice on flash tune if BM3 for example is as good and I can flash it when I need to from my phone then that is very very interesting to me. But I have to do my homework. Anything anyone has on BM3 or the other flash option send it my way please.

Go MHD.. flash tunes from your phone and the tunes are smoother via dynos/ datalogging vs. BM3 cars i've seen..

Custom tuned on a Catless downpipe and E50, i make 500whp/520wtq if that matters...? You will be in spin city at that power level though lolz

Thank you I’ll check that out. I don’t plan on running any alternative fuels so I won’t see those kinda numbers but we at least have 93 here. I just drive the car to much and do road trips and I don’t want t mess with other fuels just want to pull in fill up and go. But I realize I won’t make as much power and that’s cool too.

I am yet to take my car to a drag strip, but I'm MHD tuned on an E40 mix, using an MST intake and catless downpipe. I've ran 1/4 mile passes as quick as 11.4 on some old ass back roads, with an abysmal 60' time of 2.03 lol. I'm almost 100% sure that if I could get this car to a drag strip, on a prepped surface, I could break into the 10's.

It seems like it’s a bit easier to go faster/more power on catless downpipe. I’m probably never gonna do fuel. I can see me trying to explain that to my wife “no honey you can’t take a bigger suitcase we need room for the E85 mix” ?

Who said jb4 Supras are running that slow? I ran 12.4 bone stock so something definitely seems off with whoever said that

So since I decided to go with the MHD and an E-blend tune, and I live in Georgia where we only have either 93 octane or straight E85, I'm forced to have to manually mix my fuel to E40 on every fill up. I use the Fuel-it Ethanol Analyzer to ensure I've reached the proper mix, or at least very close to it. At first it was a pain in the ass because the math wasn't always easy on the fly, but at this point I've been doing it for well over a year and it's not a big deal at all, and the power gain is certainly worth it lol.

Oh man lovin your dedication there was a time in my youth i would probably have done that too, but for old ass if it doesn’t come out of the pump and it’s not readily available tis not for me. I don’t want any part of messing with fuels lol.

Great info thanks for sharing gonna check out MHD since I have some time on my hands…

I hear you on the ease of access part haha. MHD is a great tuning platform for the Supra if you want a very easy, plug-and-play type setup. You buy the license, download the app, register the license inside of the app, connect your MHD OBD II dongle, and flash a tune. The tune flash usually takes about 30 seconds as well. It's super easy, especially if your car has an unlocked ECU.

IMO. I disagree, I feel there are better tuners on bm3 compared to mhd. Everything you said on mhd is exactly the same on bm3. Op will have to do research and decide between the 2. My bm3 e50 tune is AMAZING but I haven't dynoed yet.

To each their own. I haven't seen a smooth dyno sheet pull from a street tune on BM3., if you would like to share yours, i would like to see so i can have an idea of what a proper BM3 tune looks like, because i can say the same thing, my MHD E50 tune feels amazing.

In due time. I will post on here. Comparing stock numbers to bm3 e50 tune.
