i think you're confusing the various 0w20 SKUs. the product sheet link doesn't even link to the correct 0w20 SKU.

LL IV isn't the same as normal edge 0w20. the only thing that matters is what sticker shows on the bottle, and the one you posted doesn't say anything about C5. the one in the bottle is the mainstream castrol edge 0w20 SP that you can find any local retail store.

Here's a link to the normal Edge 0W20. Hopefully this works. I don't know how to post the data sheet itself but you should be able to click on it from this link. It shows the "normal" Edge 0w20 meets ACEA C5 specs.

If this link doesn't work for some reason (like my technical challenges), use Castrol's oil selector and put in a 2018 Chevy Malibu 1.5L. That's my DD and it uses the same same normal Edge 0W20. You can then get to the data for that specific version from there as well.

at the end of the day what you need is oil in your car. if using c5 spec 0w20 gives you peace of mind then use it. its not like your car will blow up the moment you put "wrong" oil in there. ive jumped between weights and brand and there has been zero issues. if you really care about all these specs for oil, use ams oil or liquimoli. in my opinion pennzoil, castrol, mobil 1, etc are all the same. not sure why this thread is still even alive

To add another option.

Motul 8100 ECO-Clean 0w-20 is LL17FE+ *and* C5 certified, and yes, it even states it on the bottle.

certs don’t really matter that much when it comes to engine oil. maybe your worry would be warranted if it was about trans or diff fluid. but engine oil doesn’t matter. doesn’t matter how many or what type of additives they add. 0w20 is 0w20 no matter the rating. put 5w30 and forget about it.

lol wow you exposed the lubricant industry. So oil certifications don’t really matter. The millions of dollars that go into lubricant research is all just a scam. So the only thing that matters is the oil weight.

and yes the only thing that matters is the oil weight. if your car is consuming oil are you gonna switch from c5 0w20 to toyota "gr supra" 0w20. you'll realize it won't do anything. when you go up in weight is when you'll see a change. but yes your 30 minutes of research tops my years of experience as a tech who works on german cars everyday at a dealer

lol i'm really not sure why you get so sensitive if someone chooses to run oil that was recommended by the manufacturer. obviously "it doesnt matter at the end of the day". pump 87 because "it doesnt matter at the end of the day". the ecu will just re-learn all the timing based on knock sensors.

i'm not sure how oil consumption came into this conversation. is someone claiming 0w20 causes oil consumption?
