Finally heard back a few mins ago when I was away from a computer, but the engine in the Goodwood car is indeed the iron block engine refined by Toyota and ex-Yamaha powertrain engineers.

It was also stressed that trims and aesthetics are not yet finalized.

And there was something else, but I'll have to go back through later to see if I can find it; something about the 4cyl.

(Remember though, that my information is not to be relied upon in any way and is worthless)
Regardless of whether this is true or not, I personally really appreciate your efforts in trying to get us as much info as you have to date. So thank you very much.

I don't think the engine pictured is how it will look production ready. Keep in mind that car is still a prototype and Toyota probably had no plans on anyone seeing that engine in the first place. If anything I think Toyota used what BMW had lying around to hide what's underneath.

Kinda what I was thinking as well, but at least I was able to get that much

I do my best, but yeah I'm not using any more US sources aside from engineering, aside from investigative purposes of my own.

I fell into a trap of not getting enough from engineering and instead started to post what I was getting from the US side of the pond, and no offense to those guys (they are honest and just tell what they've heard), but often times it simply just isn't correct and it ends up becoming contradictory.

The engineers corrected a few other misconceptions on some other tech in the car that I cannot talk about yet too, and that was the final straw.

Will all 3.0-liter I6 variants be modified by Toyota, particularly with their own refined iron block?

Will the 4 cylinder variants also receive the same treatment or will it just be a copy paste of B48?

I don't think so, I think it is only the iron block I6. I haven't heard of that expertise being applied anywhere else.

----------------------------------------------

I found out some specific new things about the 4cyl, but it was my eyes only unfortunately. Still no word on if US is getting it or not though.

EDIT: they did mention in a roundabout way about getting the Toyota 86 for $20k less though (hint hint)

Prolly.

Unless you meant the legit 86 with power and such being the 4 cylinder and around the same price. But I'll let someone else who knows what you meant than guess.

Hmm What AM I driving?
If this is in fact true, whoever decided on the cheap-O-engine cover should be tied up and beaten' with a potato sack full of soap bars...lol.

Dress the "better engine" up a little would ya?? Again, another reason the 2JZ-GTE was so great, it had the cool looking coil-pack and valve covers.
Although I agree with you, Normally when the car is roped off like that it means that it wasn't suppose to be open at all! this is why theirs only one vid with the hood opened. This dude probably wasn't even suppose to do that, he doesn't seem to have been a GR staff either. If the car wasn't suppose to have it's interior or engine or trunk displayed. Then there's no incentive to put a crazy eleborate nice cover. Remember they were suppose to drive the car at Goodwood. Ain't no event coordinator going to keep a detailing crew by, to dress the engine if it's being driven ever so often(IE see the dust)

Give em a break would ya?
