Hey guys, my Supra is my first manual and first sports car I've owned, but I knew one day I'd like to do burnouts and whatnot, since I've passed the break-in period I'm ready to give it a go lol.

Being my first "fun car" I've never done it before so I'm looking for advice on how to do it properly and avoid excessively damaging or breaking anything.

A few questions, how many rpms? dump clutch or gradually release? 1st or 2nd gear? do I need to upshift from 1st?

I appreciate any advice, thanks

  1. Traction control fully off
  2. Clutch in
  3. Shift to 1st
  4. Rev to desired RPMs (I’ll let the manual Supra drivers chime in here)
  5. Dump clutch AND simultaneously move left foot to brake but only press hard enough to keep the car from moving. (The front brakes will keep the car still, but the power to the rear will overcome the brakes.)
  6. Sit there until you’re tired of burning your tires.
  7. Gradual release of brake and throttle to ride out of the burnout or go completely off throttle then full brake to stop in place.
I would be shocked if there’s not a video on the internet.

Big point is turn TC fully off.

Try a rolling burnout first. Just turn TC off and floor it in first. First gear is good for nothing but spinning and this way you aren’t going to destroy your clutch

edit: start letting off the gas slowly until you stop spinning so you know just how much gas it takes to break the tires loose

If you get wheel hop, let off the gas, or you could incur damage to the drivetrain.

You need to get a flame tune first.

  1. Hold down the traction control button for a few seconds until the dash displays the VSC disabled message.
  2. Take off in first, slowly
  3. Pin the throttle to the floor
  4. Optional
    1. left foot brake to slow the car down
    2. turn steering wheel for donuts
I'd suggest carrying some water with you and dumping it on the rear tires. This makes it much easier to get the burnout started.
