If you are referring to registering the battery, you do that with BimmerLink.

I guess they realized there are people who are paying $1000 for battery, why should they sell this thing for $549?

Brake pads for $1000 is almost normalized. $1500 for tires that last 5 proper track days have been normalized for a while. So sure... $1000 for lithium iron battery lets go.


Disclaimer: I fully understand how hard it is to save 60+lb weight in car and how easy this solution is. Its just pricing is bananas.

edit, so now I'm watching this bimmerlink video and it looks like the inputs are identical (jump to 12:20). am I missing something?

Anti-gravity re-start models are also made in China. Your apex wheels are made in China. The phone you use to browse this forum is made in China. China doesn't always mean bad.

As far as programming the new battery, you use both Bimmerlink and Bimmercode. One to register the battery and one to set the right Ah.

1) Should I convince my wife to store it in the house until my OEM one dies?
2) Or do I throw it on the trickle charger as soon as it arrives, until I need it?
