Kinda just waiting for state side unlock. It will happen eventually I imagine, B58's are so tunable. Plus I still have a few years on my warrenty. If not guess I will need to go this route . Under a grand isnt bad

There's no incentive for anyone to do it stateside at this point.

Sure there is, $$$$

100% would take my car to a place that can unlock, install bm3/mdh/tune.
Huge untapped market.
Guys like Mike Botti have already talked about it and once one guy does it the rest will copy. Gives no incentive for someone to put the time and money to unlock when everyone will essentially steal it for free.

It will most likely never happen and the reason is the EPA coming down on a shop in the U.S. who announces they unlocked it. That’s the main reason no shop is working around the clock to figure out how to unlock it because the consequences are not worth it for them. The EPA had already been coming down on Ecutek for some of its features in reference to emissions.

Wow… This is awesome! Had I’d known how easy this process would be, I would have done it myself too.:.:

Isn't Mission Performance releasing something soon? I heard a while back they would have a solution state side.

they did at the very least release an at-home bench unlock for pre junes

Thank you for the post - I've been thinking of sending it myself instead of going through a shop.. Let's say there is damage to the ECU or it is lost in transit.

Does anyone know if they can be replaced?
I had reached out to 1fastsupra with the same question, they said that by using them, they would take care of you in such situations.

Now, we all know that sometimes saying and doing are different, so take that with a grain of salt. I would suspect that if you used them or east coast supra and something happened, they would take care of you.

I will likely be shipping mine out myself as OP did. The upcharge from these shops just aren't justified IMO. The cheapest one I found was RK-Tunes at $1,299 before paying to ship the DME to him.

They've already "declared victory" with this and moved on. The biggest reason they even did anything was because of diesel bros rolling coal caused a lot of complaints.

The spectre of the EPA cracking down is still going to influence in the industry, but I'd be surprised if we such a thing happen again, especially given the current political climate.

Not going too much in the weeds here , but The Supreme Court’s recent ruling on ā€œChevron deferenceā€ drastically reduced the ability of the EPA to do anything. A tuner shops dream.

Can’t they just say it’s for ā€˜offroad’ use only? The customer then has to sign a declaration in acknowledgment. This way the blame or responsibility gors back to the owner of the vehicle.
