Info just came back:

no hybrid powertrain for the Supra at this time and higher curb weight figure was suggested as belonging to solely the Z4. Apparently Z4 does have the hybrid tech, but that was all I was told.

Finally I can rest and get back to working on my other project...

---------

EDIT: battery pack alone weighs ~100kg apparently
Was the "higher curb weight figure" the 3300lbs figure? So it's back to being just over 3000lbs?

I’d be curious to see how well a pair of new gen disco potatoes (GT2680R) perform on the MKV’s platform. :headbang:
I nearly did this - I already had one single turbo supra, so wanted to keep the A80 as twin.

But sadly the inefficiencies of two sets of everything, as well as packaging (RHD so I have to contend with a steering rack)

the final straw was that ultimately larger compressor and turbine wheels have a higher efficiency, so it was a no brainer.

That said, it's not uncommon to run two of the turbo I chose, for big power...

That’s the beauty of a straight six (most notably the JZ over the RB), you have ample room to stuff two of whatever sized turbos you want in the engine bay. This was one of my biggest worries with the MKV, especially if they use a “tilted” design from BMW. If so, make the “roomier” side of the head the exhaust side.

Is there an actual benefit for having the engine tilted?

I always thought it was engine bay clearance. This reason alone hints at Tada’s comment in the past that they were able to fit the straight six engine in such a small compact sports car platform. One problem (at least the RB’s suffer from) is oil collection up in the head because of drainage issues since the motor is on a tilt.

The Z4 and Supra are the same with 3 different variances of engine's. From low hp to high hp they are
Forgot the size of the engine . But, low hp is single turbo
Mid level is 3.0L Twin Turbo
High level is 3.0L Twin Turbo with Electronic Assistance (Approx 400hp)
Thanks for posting!

I wonder if that means the following:

Low: 335hp as reported by Bestcarweb and Guff's source.
Mid: 350hp as stated by those that attended the Toyota dealer meeting in Texas.
High: 400hp+ GRMN model that A70TTR can't talk about lol.

Wouldn't that be kind of odd to just have a 15hp differences between the low and mid model? :dunno:

Jeez louise, I missed a lot. This is all very interesting information, none of which I have any validation for. I shall start asking around.

Yeah, but I believe the hp differences on the standard M5 and M5 CS is only like 26hp.

I know A70 says the Supra won't be using this motor, but your B58 does come in both 335hp and 355hp. It could be he was just talking about the Z4 and or got some of his info crisscross?

This week on supramkv.com : We go from loving the new supra, to hating it and yelling at engineers through the computer and back to loving it within a week. As a forum we've got mood swings worse then a pubescent 8th grader... but for real this is a huge relief knowing the car is staying lightweight.
