The parking gong/PDC/navigation still comes from all the speakers with the mObridge K2 and the audio level is adjustable in the software so you can adjust the gain for the parking/PDC, gong, telephone, and navigation all separately from music.
That's pretty cool then, I always wondered how that was delivered to the amp. If it's analog, it's kind of like running down a separate "wire". If it's digital... it's picked out somehow?

What do you mean by the parking sensors would still work/sound like stock and be surround?

You can select what speakers you want those sources to play from as well. I turned the gain on all of those wayyyyy down.
I had a Match Up10 with Helix SDMI25 in my 3 series.
The SDMI25 does convert surround into stereo. This will lead to the parking sensors not coming from the front left if something is close to the front left or the rear right. With the stock amp you can locate where the object is close to the car.
After switching to the SDMI25 setup it's just left or right. Not front or back unfortunately.

Maybe the mObridge K2 does not reduce the audio to stereo. I don't have experience with it.

Wow, that's interesting. I never even noticed that the beeps from the parking sensors were directional. I'll have to test that out and report back to you. I wonder if that's true for all BMWs or specifical to a particular option. What year was your 3 series? I never really noticed it in my 2015 2 series either.

They are actually. And it annoyed me when they weren't after swapping to the Match setup.
It was a 2018 F31.

Directional was the word I was missing! Sorry for that haha

This is the system I eventually landed on after trying multiple other options that I found to be very disappointing. This is now the best sound system we have in any of our cars (F25 X3 with HiFi Professional Logic7 DSP upgraded with full bavsound components, underseat ghost subs, and bavsound revenant pro amplifier), m235i with "Hifi" upgraded to the 2 series version of harmon kardon with bavsound component speakers, underseat ghost subs, Audiotech Fischer UP8DSP amp, and JL JD500/1 subwoofer amp with a 10TW3 in a sealed custom box.

- Morel Integration reference mids/tweeters (IR-BMW42) $999 per set, two sets (doors and behind seats)

- Morel Integration performance woofers (IP-BMWSUB82) $369 per woofer, 2 woofers

- Morel Integration reference center channel mid + tweeter (IR-BMW42-CTR) $499

BMW Manual high end 27-07-22 for web

Integration BMW - Morel Hifi

- JL Audio single 10" 10TW3 PowerWedge sealed subwoofer, 2 ohm (CS110LG-TW3) $749.99

CS110LG-TW3 - Car Audio - Subwoofer Systems - PowerWedge™ - JL Audio

- JL Audio 500 watt Class D Subwoofer amp (RD500/1) $379.99

RD500/1 - Car Audio - Amplifiers - RD - JL Audio

- mObridge K2 8.1.1 channel DSP amp with MOST25 w/ PNP harness for the Supra $1,599

K2 8.1.1 Channel DSP Amplifier – Universal MOST25 - mObridge

- I also installed some butyl rubber/aluminum material to the back of the car along with some closed cell foam to eliminate any rattles.

Total cost: $5962 installed (DIY)

This was not cheap but outside of major modifications to the stock speaker locations I feel this might be the best DIY friendly setup. This combination is incredible and the drivers seem to be of a much higher quality than other brands I have tried including Bavsound, Bimmertech, and others. It is extremely loud with zero distortion and great clarity. One cool feature of the BMW integration Morel speakers is that they come with adaptors for every BMW mounting location so if you decide to get a different BMW based vehicle in the future you can use these speakers even if the mounting points are different.

One disadvantage to using the mObridge K2 is that it doesnt come with a detailed tuning file for the car so you have to set up the amp yourself. I have my tuning file if anyone is interested in this combination.

The bimmertech alpha one lightwave is a rebranded mObridge K2 DSP tuned for their speakers.

The bavsound revenant pro we have in our BMW X3 is a rebadged Audiotech Fischer amp with a mObridge MOST25 adaptor tuned for their speakers.

Just happens see your posed now. I going do upgrade my JBL to the same AMP by Bimmer-tech rebrand, Morel IR alls around Audison Subs replacement factory location and additional 10" Active subwoofer box by Audison. After taking with the sale manager at Bimmer tech he said the Amp loaded with correct tune for my speakers. I will install everything next week but if some how if I'm not happy with there tune file can you please share you file with me.

Absolutely, I will tell you their default tune file is a little conservative for these speakers which can be pushed much harder.

How did your install go? And to clarify, you went with the:
  • Bimmer-Tech Alpha One Amp
  • Morel Integration Reference Speakers
  • Audison Sub Replacement for the Factory Box (What model?)
  • 10" Active Audison Sub Box (APBX 10 AS2)

Thanks for your feedback, I am still deciding how far I want to go or if I want to do this in stages.

Is it the standard Audiotec-Fischer Helix interface? Was there at least a beginning tune on it to start out with, mapping the channels and such? It's an incredibly powerful interface, I keep watching videos on it so I can have some idea where to start some day when I finally do this (am upgrade) as well.

No, This amp made by mObridge K2 8.1.1 DSP got rebranded to Lightwave by Rimmer-tech. this amp ways more powerful than Match up 8bmw by Audiotec-Fischer. Lightwave amp pre-load with two custom tune file by Bimmer tech and only compatible with the JBL sys on the supra.

Ahh, yes, it was a mObridge amp. I think I knew that and then forgot. Thanks.

Great choice, BTW.
