Wait you got valves working now? How?
Don't know how, but it seems to be working when going from comfort to sports mode and back to comfort mode again. I'm still locked on the DME and stock tune.

Are you seeing the valve is physically closed?

Do you know which ISTA version your car is on?

I just checked the page, it says automatic transmission only.

Manual no longer supported?
Unfortunately yes, we did some testing and it's not doable for Manuals for now, unless you're getting a tune later...it's quite complicated.

Ok, quick update.

I just got the MHD Unlocker, unlocked my DME, and reflashed the MHD tune. As kysupra mentioned, you do lose access to the MHD+ suite, which is a pretty big problem if you’re running a CANBUS ECA flex fuel sensor and want to use the MHD flex fuel tune.

After flashing the MHD tune, I’m now having issues with my exhaust flap. It either stays open or closed and seems a bit bugged out. I’m wondering if this is related to the DME software potentially being from the Z4 rather than the Supra. I can change the exhaust flap state, but it doesn’t seem to behave properly.

I can also confirm the tune feels off. kysupra’s butt dyno definitely isn’t fake, the car does not feel the same as it did before.

I’ve also reached out to MHD, but not being able to use flex fuel anymore is a pretty big disadvantage for me.

On a side note, remote start still works with the MHD tune. However, when you remote start the car, the exhaust starts in whatever state it was previously left in, e.g. open or closed.

kysupra, I don’t know the ISTA level of my DME at this stage.

How do I go about getting my restored to stock and refunded for this? As cool as it is having remote start there are just too many bugs with this for now.

MHD replied back with, "Looks like they flashed something wrong. Ask them to return your ROM so you can use it again."

I have a Flex Fuel sensor, and it no longer works with the remote start flash. Unless Bimmer Remote can fix the flash to make it work with MHD, I will need to revert back as I need my ECA to work since I run ethanol time to time.

Not this fucking shit fuck stupid forum.

Not a Corvette.
kysupra, I don’t know the ISTA level of my DME at this stage.
Current I-Level is not stored in the DME, the BIN file only stores the PST Program/Software status which has the reference I-level info in it. Meaning the I-Level at time of being built/compiled. BTW, you can check this in my tool http://tuningtools.io/ by uploading your BIN file and checking the PST- Program / Software table under Calibration Info, as well as some other useful information tables:

Current I-Level is a whole-vehicle attribute and stored in the BDC Central Gateway. You can see it by scanning the Vehicle Order in a tool like Bimmercode, Protool, ISTA, etc

00005D5532E605 is supported by MHD but the same BIN ID can have multiple software versions to it. Looks like Bimmer-Remote is doing some odd software splicing that convolutes the SWF in the BIN.

I think this is great for people who are stock/close to stock and are okay with the exhaust flap malfunction. Anything more complex, probably not worth the trouble. I’m in NorCal and at times it gets up in the 100s and I’m parked in the sun at work.
There’s nothing worse than sitting in a car with black seats in the heat after work and it’s probably why I end up driving my sedan to work which has remote start.

it is flashed correctly, MHD just need to add support for certain versions.

As for returning the car to stock, we can absolutely do that. However, I’m afraid a refund may not be possible in every case.

The only known downside we’ve mentioned is that the exhaust valves remain open. Other than that, there are no known bugs with the remote-start retrofit itself.

If your retrofit was completed before we posted the information about the exhaust valves on August 8th on product page, I’m happy to issue a refund. However, if we do that, please understand that we would not be able to flash the retrofit back onto the vehicle at a later date should you change your mind.

I hope you can also understand our position: the retrofit work was completed successfully and the feature itself is working as intended. Refunding completed work means the time spent carrying out the retrofit is effectively lost on our side.

We’re always happy to work with you to find the fairest solution possible.

This is a shitshow and not great for anyone.

Absolute shitshow. I can only imagine paying for the privilege of being stuck with a borked DME with Bimmer Remote blaming MHD and MHD blaming Bimmer Remote.

If your hack breaks things and the customer wants their DME returned to stock, what have they actually paid for other than data for your public beta testing program?

Fuck that.

I agree with some of what you’re saying.

In theory, someone who’s totally stock and gets this and wants to revert back, couldn’t they just do an istep update via ista?

I’m not unlocked and have no MHD experience so I don’t know what the process is when it comes to flashing your stock stuff back.

Only 2020's and early 2021's have the luxury of doing it if you have the mission tuning unlocker tool with super license (Unlimited backup and restore). That is, if you backed up before the remote start coding.
