Paint turning Orange / Pink!! HELP (UPDATE: RESOLVED!)

Hello, I hope you all are doing well. I just came back to my car after Sunday morning cars and coffee and I noticed a discoloration on my front bumper. I’m having a hard time figuring out what it exactly is and how it was caused? Looks like a heat or UV damage of some sort, although my car is always safely garaged.

Is this something I have to discuss with my local Toyota dealer for a warranty claim or a trip to local body shop? Please help!

That’s strange.

Truly looks like it may have been a red or yellow bumper repainted silver.

The ‘fisheye’ in the paint is a tell tell sign of a respray… perhaps before you bought it.

Could’ve gotten jacked up during shipping. It’s not uncommon for a body panel to have thicker paint (from a re-spray) even on a brand new car. That said, for a panel to have been replaced with another that was a totally different color and re-painted, odd but plausible.

Red oxide primer that has in some really bizarre way gradually bled through the top coat of paint due to contamination of some type?

But I know next to nothing about paint application!!

I used a paint gauge on a brand new Supra on the showroom and the rear quarter was repainted. I pulled back the rubber bits and sure enough… tape lines and compound. I passed and bought another new one elsewhere. It happens.

This is why I always pick up my cars as soon as they're delivered with precise instructions for no PDI. I've never purchased a car that's sat on a lot or in a showroom for this exact reason.

Even if you pick the car up as soon as it's delivered to the dealer, you should always still conduct a very thorough inspection since mishaps (and subsequent cover-up) can occur at the factory as well.

As it turns out I went to one of my local Toyota dealer and their body tech looked at it, and it is confirmed that they touched up the front bumper. That sucks for me, honestly wish I would have known about these issues on brand new Supras, but I guess we learn as we go. They told me to go to the original Toyota dealer I bought from and they have a collision center and have them pay for a proper repaint and express that your not happy at all with purchase and he also told me you can honestly leave it since it’s only visible close up at an angle. Should I go through all the trouble to do that? Should I instead wrap the car instead and forget about it ? I really love this car and plan on keeping long term btw. Any suggestions welcomed! I’m not a an expert in cars by much so I’m just puzzled what is the logical move to do. ?

how far is the dealer?
and if you choose to go, ask them how they managed to get orange color in there. can't be rust, that is plastic bumper.. did an orange car scuff against it somehow and no one sanded it down?.. I've got so many questions lol.
