I just want to know what dum-dum at Toyota thought people would prefer two-tone half-polished wheels or wouldn't think people would at least want the option of silver/grey or black wheels on the 3.0/3.0 Premium?:dunno: It's so silly that they think Supra buyers want $1000 mirror end caps but not normal-looking wheels.
Yeah I feel you. Im getting mine done as soon as I get mine back from the repair shop. Damn you Jorge for backing into my car.

I'm still debating in Powder Coating mine as it's cheaper than buying A91 wheels. My fear is, since our wheels are Forged, Powder Coating "can" compromise the integrity of forged wheels. The level of compromise is fine for Daily Driving and even hitting potholes; however when tracking the car, it puts a ton of stress on the wheels and other cars (such as Lotus and Nissan forged OE wheels) have cracked during track use [though rare].

Has anyone here done track time on their powder coated wheels?

Just paint them. You don't want that in the back of your head despite how small that risk may be.

The wheels have a pretty thick coat of clear on them so it's not hard to scuff them enough to get them painted properly or rattle canned.

And I agree with others here...who the hell thought two tone wheels that look like ninja stars was the style Supra owners wanted?!?!

Ya, you're right, if I powder coat them and go to the track, i'll always have that "risk" in the back of my mind.

Painting them is an option, but shops here charge $800-$1,000 to get it professionally done (I get it, it's more work to Paint than to powder coat).

Oh well, I'll just be patient and hopefully a set of used pops up.

Honestly - I know it's more expensive, but having a set of track wheels is 100% worth it.

I was concerned with the same thing, I asked if it would compromise the structural integrity of the wheels and I was assured that not at all due to the processes they go through. Could be that they just wanted my money but considering that I’ve seen them work on some local track cars, celebrity cars and high end cars I went for it. I did find and bought a set of a91 wheels with only 800 miles on them with tires for $500 on offer up 2 days after powder coating mine ? so maybe you can have some luck there

What recently aggravated me is I saw a local Refraction Blue A91 with lime green powder coated wheels (i don't think the owner is on here). I could have just traded mine for his Black OE wheels since they were going to powder coat anyway :confused1: .. oh well

Powder coated in satin black
Do you know whether they used Prismatic Powders, or something else?

I’ve been sitting on an extra set of factory wheels I bought off someone on here. Was considering a few different options, but I keep coming back to good old satin black. I may start shopping around town for someone to finally powder coat them.

I’m based in South Africa however I will find out from the supplier and let you know.
I toyed with the idea of bronze/gold etc, but once they placed the satin black sample next to the car, I decided to stick to the traditional over played color.

Not sure if it's the lighting, but those look gloss black to me. It looks as reflective as mine do after I clean off the brake dust.
Could be the lighting as this picture was taken straight after a wash. It’s definitely not as glossy as my previous GTI with gloss black wheels, but you are right, it’s more ‘glossy’ than matte. The gloss black sample they had was much more ‘shiny’

Looks good! Can't go wrong with either gloss or black. Both go well with the car
