I have a feeling that it's because moisture can seize the e-brake shoes in place if the car isn't moved for quite a while..? It's metal composite on metal contact i think.. idk, that's my perspective... the car is already on flatstoppers so it wouldn't roll unless someone pushed the car off it...
These vehicles don't utilize the mini-drum & parking shoe setup, instead using an electric actuator to twist and clamp the rear caliper piston down. Considering the strain it puts on those components, and the fact that the pads could stick to the rotor, it's just not a good thing to do on a level surface anyways.

Andrew - looks great! Nice garage and nice companion for your Supra. :headbang:
Thank you ~ I added a disposable plastic cover with semi elastic at the bottom today as well (keeps any dust particles out). Many use these temp covers at car show when a brief shower passes over. Less than $15

Be careful with that. I had a friend that stored a car exactly like that years ago and moisture was trapped because of the plastic cover. Mold grew and ruined some of the paint.

~ Thanks. Good point.

Yeah this particular plastic cover is semi loose and allows airflow. I stored my prior cars the same way without issue.

I believe the climate, air moisture content, humidity, storage location, etc could indeed be a factor for some.

~ Yes I do so at one of the diy quarter car washes in town (hot soap & water along with good pressure). I wash the engine at least once a month along with the underside of the hood. No issue are created with the soap or water.

No degreaser or cleaners are necessary.

I also don’t recommend spraying it down with tire dressing either (just promotes dust collection). I prefer the clean natural state.

I just cleaned my engine today. No powerwashing, it took 3 hours! Can you really power wash a car without damaging the engine?

~ You certainly can... with zero issues.

Yours looks great but you spent 3 hours on what can be done in 5-10 minutes.

I’ll video it next time for ya. Easy as … wash, rinse and dry.
