I know this has been asked before but i’m unclear on how to do it and i’d like help

I have a 23 MT Supra with BM3 installed and i have the “stock tune” converted to custom rom and i flashed that tune on successfully. When i go to smog (since im trying to register my salvage title in ca) it fails due to “modified software” so it seems the CA ID and CVN numbers are not the factory numbers, how do I get that? How can i fix this

It seems like the stock tune on BM3 is just a generic stock tune for supra’s and i can’t pass smog.

I reached out to ftp and they sent me a new stock tune file but it didn’t want to download because it was “corrupted or invalid”.

Unless you can convince PTF to spoof your CID and CVN you pretty much have to Install all OEM emissions equipment. Reflash the DME with an ISTA update.

That will relock the ECU and set it back to OEM, or find a dealer willing to update it for you. You also have the option of ordering a new DME from Toyota when you give them your VIN. You can keep that as an emissions DME if you have to do this check every year. Drive the car around for ~50 miles until the CEL goes away or check with one of those emission readiness apps. Go to emissions. Pass. Go back home. Go to sleep knowing you're saving the planet.

Any idea how much a new DME costs?

Why are you getting a smog done so early on anyway ?
When i go to smog (since im trying to register my salvage title in ca)
In order to reregister a car that has been labeled salvaged in California, the car has to be inspected thoroughly, to be labeled road ready again. One of those items is a smog check.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can just swap the DME. It needs to be mated to your car, ie go through a dealer to have them associated to each other

Like I mentioned in your last thread, you have to flash back to OEM spec which locks your DME. The dealer just needs to update your DME and it locks it. They do this when they do the data com update for the recall FYI. If you want to do it yourself, download Toyota Techstream Lite, sign up for 2 day sub, Download Toyota ISTA, perform update. You will need an OBD2 to Ethernet cable, you can use a USBC Ethernet cable adapter if you need to.

Only a locked DME with oem tune will have the verified CID and CVN needed to pass.

And no, you cannot just swap DMEs from another MT Supra. It doesn’t work that way.
