Someone did attempt to move the cat further back but I don’t think it was successful..

More problems than it’s probably worth

Yea, for the Supra, where the cat is right off the turbo, you are probably right. On cars like my Evo, the placement of the cat will never see 1500+ EGTs.

We've used GESI cats on time attack Evos as well, which obviously see a ton of heat, never had issues.
Yeah, honestly modifying our exhausts to hold a high flow cat and extending the o2 wires may resolve that but modern ECUs are really really sensitive now so it may not even be an option. Thats also a shit ton of work lol.

I've pretty much convinced myself that ill be alright with swapping the downpipe out two times per year so I can have my 700whp.

Its not gonna work well if at all. I've spoke with several tuners and read a ton of posts on people trying to run catted with a larger turbo and the cats just cannot handle the heat.

You will end up melting the cat and clogging it.
I appreciate the insight, and I could see this being a problem at the 800hp+ level being discussed in this thread, but what are your thoughts on a catted downpipe for someone only looking to push up to the stock trans limit along with some T51R goodness.

Can high-flow catted downpipe stay?

Want to be clear although I am capable of tuning and have worked with several other platforms, I have not even touched this platform from a tuning standpoint. Im just repeating what I have asked the larger names here. From what I have read and heard you will start to have issues around 500-600hp with a 400 cell GESI like what is in the AA catted pipe.

You live in FL which means you have hotter ambient temps and will probably see this issue at the lower end of the power. Cooler climates may be able to get away with a little more.

Specs and kit look really good...if it can live up to it's claims it should easily take over as the default turbo upgrade. Following and ready to order when it goes live.

Not a Corvette.

Just an FYI for others... The GESI cat that MAP uses for their Supra downpipes is the 85000 which is 300 cell and rated to 850hp.

Not sure what the Activeautowerke uses.

GESI cats is the future, companies like AMS have already started to transition over. They no longer sell a race cat and marked up the street cat by $500 since release, which says it's rated for 800hp. Maybe they will start creating some higher hp cats using some new material or better engineering. Time will tell.

I just hope that what they have won’t replace every single thing I have. It’s kind of looking that way and if that’s the case, I won’t be into this.

Is your exhaust only good for the DP you have?
