So weird I've never experienced traction being turned all the way back on but have heard from everyone else that it happens. Maybe I drive shit enough to heat the tires faster ?
Usually just happens when you go out with super low pressures like 24-25 and they can’t get up to pressure on the out lap.

Hello, I’m doing my first track day for the HPDE event at NOLA speedway the 11-12 next month in two weeks. Pretty stoked, been waiting my whole life for this moment it feels. I’m all in and want to take it as far as I can, compete and what not. I have my manual Supra lowered on H&R springs for now, about -2.1 camber front/back. Continental extreme contact sports 265 35/R17 in the front, 295 30/R17 for the rear.

I’ve read all of Jackie Dings posts and he recommended CSG pads that I recently ordered: CP front and C11 for the rear for street/track use….CSG messaged me and said it was an odd setup that the concern would be the rears would be more aggressive than the fronts. Curious you guys thoughts.

I am not familiar with those compounds. But I have tried stronger compounds on the rear and softer on the front and it works ok so if you have them can always try them.

Those tires are good starter choice to drive to and from track and do some track days. The camber should help so you do not cord the outside etc So if you have never been on a track, then my suggestion is to just use your stock pads for your first 3-4 track days. They work fine for Beginner and even Hpde2 speeds. So would use them a bit before just throwing on Track pads. They take a little getting used to and also do not work as well on the street as they do not get hot enough. Bedding in track pads is also a little different. So depends if you are still driving as daily driver as well. Once you et some sessions under your belt with the stock ones you can see how it goes and how they wear. No real need to do a lot more stuff to your car until you get more experience and then start working on more advance techniques/ going faster. I tell all my students that first you are learning track protocol, lines and getting comfortable giving/ receiving point by and not trying to go fast. Speed comes with being smooth on all of your inputs, steering, gas brake and putting them all together, Looking down the track far enough and learning your braking and and turn in points, and when to start rolling back on the gas. You instructor will help you with all of these. So I am sure you will have a great time, and should wait all going crazy with mods until you are ready to benefit from them. Brakes, Tires and suspension/ track alignment should are always first before you try to get more HP. Hope this helps.

i haven't used CSG nor i know anything about it but reading from your post; C11 is more aggressive than CP, this would make the car more rear bias. - explained in my earlier post in this thread. and this set up will suit the way Jackie drive his car and I'd prefer to set up such way for my race car. however, this would be very dangerous on the street. Hence, if you are planning to drive it on the street, go with more traditional set up.

Hi Ryan, if I read your post correctly this is your first track day? First, welcome to your new addiction! Secondly, you might want to have a coach ride with you the first day as you learn the track and get used to your car on track. Its incredibly helpful and confidence inspiring to have a coach help you build confidence and experience. Your first track day is usually a bit nerve racking as you figure it all out and get comfortable. Your pace won't be that quick (it shouldn't be) so the setup won't be that critical. Just start with a suggested tire cold pressure and if you can measure your hot pressures and have a target, do that. If there's a sighting lap or track drive in the morning definitely do that so you're not seeing the turns for the first time on Lap 1 - it helps. Focus on yourself, learning what your car does, using your controls and using your eyes. By the end of Day 1 you'll feel a lot more comfortable.

Luckily my car isn’t my daily, but I do take spirited drives on the streets here and there. I’ll be starting in HPDE 1, so nothing crazy at first. I think I’m going to run this setup just to see what happens.

Glad to hear someone else is running those pads. I'm curious though, how do they feel to you? I was expecting them to be somewhat grabby but they feel very "soft" I guess is the right term. Stopping power is great and I've had the same experience as you in terms of road manners, but I just feel like they don't bite as hard as I expected? I bed them in properly and had them on track twice now ?‍♂

They're definitely very mild mannered under 'normal' driving. I do wish they were a bit more grabby when cool. I've found they need a decent amount of heat in them and then they wake up a LOT. Unless you're really trying, it's hard to get them up to that temp on the street.

You’re going to have a blast!!!! The Supra out of the box 1st track day will be perfect. Any better pad… sure can’t hurt! And typically you go with the same pad or a little less bite in the rear. That’s likely what CSG was referring to. Until you get into all these crazy setups and playing with what you like and driving style.

So glad you are getting out there and get to see the real potential of these cars. I bet you’ll appreciate her even more when you’re done! Let us know how it goes ?

Ok, I have one...

1-What angle do the wing guys run that track?

I just installed the full Verus package and will be playing with angles.... going to start mild at 4-6% and see how it feels.

2-Do you change the angle at different tracks?

For me i run my small home track a lot. It is technical and has a bunch of slowish turns. would think i could run a more aggressive angle and then run the 4% at like VIR where my average speed is tons higher.

Pick up my wing for the Supra in a couple weeks or so, but have ran wings on past track vehicles.

Your thinking is right. Typically I run higher AOA at shorter tracks and lower AOA at longer tracks. But that’s all dependent upon the balance of the aero front and rear and how the driver prefers the downforce balance of the car.

I have had the Verus wing for a year. You really should not have to adjust. Flat is good. I went up and down and really did not make a noticeable difference. We also took off and it had a 2 sec impact even on tighter technical track. So still has an impact at corner speeds in the 50 to 60 mph. Range. Most of our Tracks you u cannot get faster than 120 to 130 mph on the straights. You do feel the down force pull on the hp after about 100. So acceleration rate will slow, so feels like you run out of steam. But it then turns in a lot nicer. So do not let than make you think the drag is slowing you down.

Flat like zero? Or flat like I am thinking 4-6%

VIR I hit 160 on back stretch. Forget off top of head ave lap speed is 88-90 (would have to look up)
And home little track ave is 55. Back stretch there 145-147

I run my wing at max angle ... maybe it is slowing me down - my top odometer speed was 163 at autoclub I forgot to reduce the angle and see if I would go any faster but I have other tracks that I can experiment with acceleration did seem to slow down around 155...

@Todday1 - What setup are you running for TT3 with weight/power/tires?

I am running TT2 right now on some toyo rr, 3360 comp weight - 435hp ... I would need to detune to around 360hp to run tt3

Focusing on reducing weight to go faster I really want to be under 3000lbs....

what wing?

Verus max wing would be a massive drag
