Not a Corvette.
Looks like the actual splitter survived though, unless you aren’t showing the carnage.

the rear of that splitter looks deformed and delamed

what caused this failure to start with, on track debris?

Not even close to surviving. Can zoom in on the first pic and see it partly.

What vents are those in the top of the fender. In bought a set from Saber design but they seem too flimsy so was looking around for some that are stronger. I also plan to screen the hole over the liner so will not take out the liner completely.

Some sort of laminate like a helmet peel away would add a great deal of protection, I'm wondering about legality on the street however.

Laminating a brittle material with an elastomeric material will create a much more resilient composite material. This is the material science behind safety glass. Adding a peel away system would just improve this concept, especially when it prevents pitting like a peel away would.

Coatings tend to be .010" or thinner, and tend to be brittle by nature. I'm dubious of any claim that they would significantly improve the resilience of the windshield.
I had posted this before on windshield. Look up racing tear offs. You can buy blank ones from pro tint. I have been using for 2 years. 30+ track days each year and just put first windshield in.

No unfortunately. You have to trim. And shrink with heat gun. I found single or 2 layer is best. As you can get it to shrink. After several installs I found for me it was best to spay wet and without taking backing off fit / squeegee down down/ heat shrink working all the fingers out on the top and sides. Then trim it a little more so there is a little boarder to ensure you can push out all the water/soap mixture. Then pull backing and spray /squeegee down using heat gun a little but should not have to skunk much more. Might not be for everyone but helps a lot on the sand blasting pits and stops most bigger pits. It lasted quite a long time before I finally pulled it

I’m assuming using the wipers would scratch the hell out of those, right? So track only?

Yes and no. I drive a bit on the street and have used in the rain and on a track session in the rain . So can get away with wiper usage. These are regular racing tear offs so pretty tough. It does not rain here a lot on AZ so have not tested prolonged wiper usage. If you want to try the single layer is cheaper. That is what I am doing now as it is easier to fit and I get away with many months before I have to change. Plus if I screw it up with a few creases on the sides I can just try again For not a lot of money. Gives you more install practice.

They are sayber fender/hood vents above the wheels.

They are flimsy junk. When the engine bay gets hot they crack and lose what little structural rigidity they had.

I would sell them to someone that street drives their car and not put them on a track car at all.

That was kind of what I thought. I have verus hood vent and that is much better. So I did not want to cut hood with them so are sitting on the shelf. I have their vented fenders and I cut liner but screened it with a pretty thick screen and have been surprised how dented the screen is. If I had just took out liner I expect it would have destroyed the fiberglass fenders if you look at the fender well you can see how I did it

Nice. I’ve got the same fenders and did not install any mesh over that opening, which was probably a mistake.

Although the fenders are holding up okay, I’ve got a tremendous amount of rubber and junk built up in the cavity on the inside of the fender (between the sayber fender and the body of the car).

The fender should really sit flush with the wheel well liner but that huge gap makes things a mess.

For others that are thinking about the sayber fenders, I would once again say that they are not designed or intended for use on a track car unfortunately.

Verus should have some coming out soon…

how much has vented fenders affected your front DF balance? worth another degree of wing angle?

I did the high downforce splitter, hood vent, arch vents, and fenders all at once, so I’ve got no idea.

I suspect it doesn’t make much of a difference. I’d wait for Verus to release their fenders with actual data.

You really don’t want to run the Verus wing past about 12 degrees anyway or you’ll lose a ton of efficiency with detached airflow, and I think just the splitter is fine for that.
