Hi all Supra owners, I'm curious if anyone has installed soft-closing doors and/or a tailgate kick sensor. I believe these features would add convenience, especially for the trunk, which lacks a handle.

Reminds me of a friend who would purposely not close his door completely so he could show off this soft close thing, every time he gets a chance... Nah this crap doesn't belong in my car.

My friend has the soft-closing doors and trunk on his Mercedes. While it's cool, I always find myself looking at it every time to see if it actually closes. The satisfying "thunk" of closing our cars' hatch and doors are more affirming.

While we occasionally go grocery shopping with the Supra, I'd guess that an SUV/Van-type foot-waving hatch unlock sensor is not on the average Supra owner's wish list. Our Lexus SUV does have a soft-closing hatch feature.

Kick sensor hatch release is definitely plausible, and instead of electric lift struts, simply use higher-pressure gas struts (with or without helper coils) strong enough to lift open from lock release position. If we can wire an external button in, and many have, we could integrate that signal through a kick sensor.

Albeit, if your kick sensor goes haywire, which they are prone to do sometimes, have fun with a hatch that randomly opens, or you could be standing there with arms full, doing a dance that may concern onlookers..
