I know a lot of us used supra guys have only 1 key. I have been searching and looking hard for the last few months for spares/prices.

2 local Toyota places I have asked were $1200 and the other dealership was $2700.

Has anyone found a reasonable place to buy one that's not insanely over priced?

Has to be programmed via Toyota japan I believe. I am talking with the dealership guy and he said he would ask their BMW dealership to see if it can be done that way.
Keys come from Germany preprogrammed to the VIN. Know a guy that lost his key after getting his stuff stolen. Took him months but he got a dealership to order the key and it cost him like $600 or something. He got his key replacement early in the summer. Think it was a 4 week wait.

BMW discontinued the key but it can still be ordered at least.

Dude, it's a BMW. The key programming is approved by a dude in Munich, which is pretty fucking far from Japan.
I'm only saying what I read on several sites. Hence my question here as to what the forum recommends.

Thanks, I will hit up some BMW dealerships and see if it's cheaper than the Toyota dealerships I have contacted.

BMW dealerships will not help or service Supras. You’d be wasting your time. Toyotas partnership specifically states they’re not allowed to help. BMW Dealerships will tell you the same.

You’ll have to call a bunch of Toyota dealers to see which one knows the process.

Yes sir, that's what I did so far. Just trying to find a place who isn't going to charge thousands of dollars for 1 key. 🤷

I saved this post from something I saw on Facebook in case I ever needed it.

it only took 9 months of searching, but once I found a source , I finally have 2 working KeyFobs and am about $650 poorer.. The instruction floating around the internet to get it to connect worked like a charm the first time. Anyone who has been turned down by multiple Toyota dealerships (like I had been). If you’re in or near Kentucky, Green’s Toyota of Lexington has an agreement process with BMW to get these sourced preprogrammed/cut to a vehicle’s VIN. If you ever choose that avenue, call or visit their parts department and and ask for Shane. Best to have good quality pictures of the VIN sticker located in the door jam and your driver’s license. I ordered mine and was told lead time would be 6-8 weeks. What a surprise it was to get a call it had arrived and was ready to pick up in less than a week(ordered this last Tuesday and picked it up yesterday during my luncht break at work). They have a 10% discount for military (active , retired and veterans.)

Oh? Enlighten me. Please name me one site that says GR Supra keys are programmed in Japan. There should be none because they aren't. These are BMW keys. Japan is not involved in any way.

Googling how to get a spare key over the last 2/3 months I read someone was told when they order the key from the Toyota dealership, it's sent to japan, again it's just something I had read online. I don't know how the process works. obviously now I have asked for help here in the forum seems to be they were told some bs. 🤷
