Why hasn’t the market developed a stand alone ECU with an adapter to plug into the MKV harness? The USA is in desperate need of a solution like this since the Bosch ECU encryption tragedy.

Desperate need? Not sure about that. The few who are desperate go through Femto, the rest buy a JB4. To answer your question, I'd say that it is either too hard or the market is just too small to justify the development.. or more likely than not, a combination of both.

How is there a desperate need when the stock ecu meets current needs with existing work arounds.

Powertune is working with Motec to make a stand-alone ECU for MKV.
Probably won't be cheap.

Will easily be $10000, if you want to keep the DI and run PI all MoTeC controlled. You’re gonna need 2 ecu’s, one for DI, one for PI. That’ll be $6500 in hardware alone, excluding breakout boxes etc

If you’re willing to ditch the DI and run PI only the M150 supports 12 injectors, that’ll be $3500.

This level of commitment it would be full on race cars, at that point it makes more sense to rip out the factory electronics and go with a new motorsport grade engine/body harness with a PDM.
