Can you move the wastegate flapper with your hand? I can't remember if you did that or not. It could be as simple as a mis-calibrated Wastegate Actuator.

Haven't even tried. This is a vid from the 1st time around. Almost certain it's the same issue....

Yeah, this is very similar to that video I posted a few months back about @kern417 having this issue. The following videos are just snippets from his post with the 1st one showing a proper working waste gate vs what was wrong with his. The photo shows it looks like the waste gate shaft was marred and caused binding.

Every time you start your car, you the waste gate does a verification. It should go from fully closed to fully open, and you should be able to watch this happen every time you turn it on. When it fails, you get the “electronic waste gate stopped learning”.

thanks for the tag.

OP, just one thing I recommend I did for peace of mind, is spray some lubricant in the joint and cycle it in the wastegate a few times before install to spread it around. helps keep anything from getting in there and keeps it moving smoothly.

no, it shouldn't be necessary. but i saw it on another forum and figured why not. the graphite can handle the heat etc so seemed like some cheap insurance. my issue popped up at my first track day after install during the 1st full session, and i've done several track days since with no issues.

Thanks @Z4m40i and @kern417 that's some good info in there.

First things I first need to take the turbo out and inspect the state of the wastegate.

DAW reached out and said they're going to need up to 4 weeks to ship my turbo out. Sigh. I wish they'd indicate that somewhere on the product page like pure or most other brand do. I've asked them if they could cancel my order and process a refund, but I'm not sure they're going to make that easy.

Takes time for them to order it on Alibaba and ship it from China. ;)

If they even agree to refund me, my only local option is to go pure900. A pure800 would take 8-10 weeks. Don't think that's a great option either for a mid 700whp time attack build

All I know about DAW is they can make good power.
A local M140i just put on a DAW 6969(nice) and it made 841whp/1075nm, making over 800nm by 3500rpm.
Built engine and gearbox.

The one i purchased is the Ultra Flow X, which is supposedly rated for 820whp. That's a lot more than i want considering my use case. Currently making 685whp on E20 and methanol with the pure800. When all is said and done i'd like to settle on a figure slightly higher than that, and with more linear curve than i currently have.

I don't know how this is going to play out, but i do trust my mechanic, and he didn't veto my DAW purchase, despite his pure preference

DAW told me to go pound sand.

Racebred also reached out and told me that my splitter is going to be late because they found out that they missed my air dam. This is why you get work done during the off-season folks.... All good though. These things happen, and the racebred team has been nice all throughout, despite how busy they've obviously been.

They don't want your money???

Lol no I already paid for the turbo. The next day they told me that they're going to need up to 4 weeks to ship. There was no mention of a backorder the product page, so I asked if they could cancel my order and refund me. They said nope. I'm ok with the turbo, not so much with the timeline.

Shocker. This is where it would be okay to pull an ahole @Awad move and chargeback.

My DAW order took 8 weeks even though Shawn quoted 4 weeks tops. Same as you got told

on top of that, took another 8 weeks to get out a different drain hose and oil feed restrictor to stop the turbo smoking and burning oil

That being said, it’s held up with 0 issues for the last year over quite a few hard track days. Although I’m only at 29psi and 550whp. The turbo has a lot more to give. Gonna give it some E soon

What turbo? 29psi is a lot for only 550whp.

I find it so weird that they’d recommend an oil restrictor on a journal bearing turbo…
