Here's an overall positive take from Paul and Todd (minus the looks):

I thought I saw another G87 coming the other way on the highway yesterday, but it was a red G42 (probably M240i). I really like the way that cars looks from a distance and on the road. As I get closer to it I find it a bit awkward. I'd actually say the same about the Supra. I love it driving down the road, but often find it a bit awkward up close.

while the video you posted is positive in of itself, when you start to drive it back to back with the competition it’s less so.

It is exactly why when friends and family go car shopping I tell them to test drive at least 4-5 vehicles before making a decision and ideally on the same day. When you are coming from a 4+ old vehicle and driving something new, pretty much whatever you drive will feel like a step up, it’s only with context that an opinion can truly be valuable.

Definitely personal opinions, car use, and what someone wants to get out of their vehicle and purchase. My wife still likes Ford Mustang GTs ? and… this M2 (I’d rather have the M2, if she gave me any say lol). Obviously I picked the Supra for myself. No regrets. To each their own…

The M2 will work perfectly for my lifestyle. More practical, back seats for my son, excellent engine, and peace of mind when taking the car to a dealer for service. But I can’t get over the exterior looks of the new M2. For some reason every time I see one, I think it was a collab of BMW+Lego.

Saw another new M240i at the track this weekend. 5,000% better looking than the M2, imho. Kinda has R32 vibes, at least from the side view.

Hate to say it but I would for sure buy the M240i over the M2.

Facts. No regrets, but I had never driven a MKV Supra prior to buying my 2023 6MT and I wish I had driven more cars to compare it against such as the G87 M2, Nissan Z, etc. Purely for peace of mind. MKV is extremely fun, but I'll never know if I would have gone for the G87 had I test driven it.

I was thinking about switching Supra for M2, so I did drive one for longer.
Car hides its mass pretty well actually, I was suprised. You can feel it on fast right-left transitions and a lot under braking, it feels like u r trying to stop a train, its nervous on the brakes. Brakes are ok overall, but too much bite up top with not enough progression and feel. Overall suspension tuning is very good for a stock car I'd say.
The famous S58... in M2 it doesnt feel to fast, despite being over 460hp. Yes, it goes, gains speed but its nothing spectacular, I feel like previous M2c was more brutal and felt faster (even tho it wasnt). Again, power to weight. So I was bit disappointed with it. Next thing is it has somehow a turbo lag, despite having 2 turbos. I dont mind tuning for linear power delivery and top end, but its not it, it just takes time to spool. The ZF8 is nice but I feel like it gets a bit lost on downshifts in M2.
It has fake burbles through speakers pupmped into cabin, thats was.... bad.
Steering is half-dead, I couldnt rely on it going fast. Car is on 19 + 20" from the factory, I dunno if 18" can be run for track, prob not due to caliper size.
I like the screens and customization, the oil and tire pressue in front of me etc, so overall inside its cool. Ouside looks is average at best, with ok front, not too-good side and catastrophic rear end.

1 is a sports car designed from the ground, 2nd one is sporty coupe.
After 1 drive its pretty clear for me which one do I want (and its not the one with ///M).
Honest and concise review. I feel like in the age of Youtube and social media, people think every new car is better when in reality driving is very personal. What one person likes and dislikes about a vehicle, another person might look at it differently.

I have both. The difference is apparent and immediate in performance and steering/brakes, etc. Major step up for the M2.

Distinctly different character for each engine etc. Its fun to swap out with each day to day lol.

I finally saw one and it isn’t any better than in the pictures. Might be a great car but besides being obese it just isn’t my cup of tea so to speak. The Supra is so much easier on the eyes..

I saw a Toronto Red on the highway a couple weeks ago and thought it looked great. I would never drive a red sports car unless maybe it was a Ferrari, but I can still admit it looked good.

Additionally, while I know its a negative for performance, the M240 is not available in manual at the moment. If the M240 was available in mt I may have done that but ordered an M2 instead.

Finally got a chance to check out the new M2.

I didn't get to drive it, but I did get a short ride. As passenger, it feels levels faster that the supra - more so since I am used to my slow shifting manual vs the the auto in this M2. The M2 startup is louder inside the cabin. The car also shakes less? My supra jiggles on startups.

Walking up to the M2, it feels much larger than the Supra. The M2 isn't much longer, but just feels bigger due to the overall height. The front and sides aren't bad. The 20in wheels in the rear are massive but fit well in it's swollen butt.

The Steering wheel is definitely nicer feeling. It is also much thicker. The supra feels much more delicate mainly due to the thin steering wheel, and sensitive shifter.
The interior overall looks cooler, but doesn't necessarily feel any more premium; Just more modern. All that carbon is very very nice to look at. The idrive8 is sick.

EDIT: I will add, the M2 does not get many looks on the road. The supra breaks an embarrassing amount of necks daily.

If you could, would you trade your A90 for the M2?

Not a fan of the lines and overall look . She better have extremely naughty performance specs to make up the “meh” outside.

Haven't seen one in white yet. Man, that rear is so cringe.

Still stand by my statement that the M240i is a MUUUUUCH better looking car.
M2 is a design mess, rear is tragic. Imo it only looks "ok" in black, so u cannot see all those weird angles.
Anyway, its a 1700+kg pig (it weights as much as an M5 e60 with V10) with fake steering and fak3 brakes so, 0 interest.
