Was at the closest BMW dealer today to look at the M2, my wife was with me. No test drive as this one was in the showroom and it’s meant to show off options (had red painted brakes, carbon roof, black tip exhaust, black rims on one side and bronze on the other). Maybe if I had a deposit down or an existing relationship with the dealer they may have allowed a test drive.

Initial thoughts is this vehicle is a lot bigger than I had anticipated. They had a M4 performance in the showroom right behind it, so you can really compare sizes. Sat in both and I didn’t feel like the M4 was any bigger in the front seat. I don’t know why anyone would buy a base model M4 when this M2 exists.

We also went to the closest Toyota dealer and sat in a 2023 manual Supra, but again no test drive. So we got a very good impression of the size and styling.

Our thoughts kind of aligned. So the interior of the M2 is nicer, more personality and more space, but I do prefer the instrument cluster and infotainment screen in the Supra. Exterior styling is 100% in favour of the Supra, not even close even though the Supra was black and likely the least flattering colour.

If this is going to be your only, the M2 is definitely the better pick, but if this is a second or third vehicle the Supra is just the better choice in my eyes. It looks more special, it’s cheaper, made in Europe, has better exterior colour options, and it’s so much smaller and lighter.

Got to see the G87 in person today. It looked better to me in the flesh, but overall I don’t think I like it at all. At least not in Brooklyn Grey.

I just can’t shake the impression that the rear and front bumpers, and side sills look like they were tacked on like some aftermarket afterthought. It just doesn’t feel remotely cohesive to me in the way the F87 did.

After watching a video about it, I dismissed most items and scoffed at the weight, the only thing that it might have over the supra is better pedal response and power delivery, and that alone has me conflicted. Granted I would like to buy a current gen but they don't have ACC

I've come so close to buying a BMW numerous times. Every single time, I decide to go with a different car. BMWs are cool and all.. but just seem so basic. The M2 has a lot of potential but the styling kills it for me.
I'm surprised by how many people come up to me and say they like the Supra, ask what it is, etc. It definitely has a unique look, especially compared to anything BMW.

Came back from the BMW dealer to finalize my M2 deal and the GM is 99.9% sure that it is coming. I asked if I could ignore the June/July delivery of the car to be first for the CS or Comp model but he's first in line followed by a Sales Manager lol...

Better diff programming, better traction control, and a forged twin turbo b58… errr s58 :)

But yeah, it’s heavy.

Who cares if there is a X Drive M2? That will increase the weight that much more and be automatic only, it'll also strip it of even more personality. HARD PASS...unless this is your practical fun car for year round motoring and you have something else in your garage with more character, stick, and RWD.
