^^^ This.

Most partnerships keep the costs down. Without BMW or Subaru, Toyota's future sports cars will be far from cheap. Especially with the average price of a new car in 2024 being close to $50k already.

Let's not forget that the A80 Turbo was $48k new in 1994 and $54k new in 1998. That's $100k in today's dollars.
Yes, it was suppose to be a step up from the A70 in both terms of pricing and performance. However, I think a lot of people are forgetting about the Japanese banking crisis of the 90s. I believe the JDM A80 was around 10k less than it's US counterpart, hence why Toyota sold like 3X the amount in their home market.

Toyota just reported the first drop in quarterly profit in 2 years, first drop in output in 4 years, and announced that it will pause EV investment until absolutely necessary.

Yeah, not a chance they bring these cars to market anytime soon. But keep dreaming guys ?
the Japanese business mindset is different from the west in the sense that they look at long term growth and projection and not just short term gains

Yes, and long term growth IS NOT by way of low production, low demand sports cars. What is your point?

we all know that sports cars aren't the bread and butter for most car companies but my point is that you just took a small snapshot to forecast the future. again just reiterating that the typical Japanese way of doing business is different from than the west.

Since we're on the topic of Japanese culture, Toyota would lose a lot of face by teasing all these cars and not following through.
