@razorlab A disgraced undersea gasket engineer told me I could retrofit this extended pan on to my 2024 6MT when it arrives, but I'll only see the cooling benefits if I use a different viscosity engine oil in my rear differential. What has your testing concluded at this time?

Did you make a cutout of your undercladding or you just left the pan exposed?
No cut out. It just touches the cladding. I don’t see any wear after 4 months.

I thought about cutting out for ventilation, but I don’t currently have any temp readings for the transmission indicating I need to.

Bryan, great thread. I’ll likely go with the m3/m4 pan. And I’m digging your mid-pipe exhaust mounting ?. I snapped the threads off my mounting block too but went ahead and replaced it (with a much gentler hand). ?

Got my hands on both the PPE and M3/M4 pan. Here are my observations:
  • Weight
    • PPE filter comes fixed/bolted down. M3 filter is just loose and sits in tray
    • M3 = 5lb 1oz
    • PPE = 8lb 12oz
    • Difference = 3lb 2oz
    • when you hold them in your hands PPE feels significantly heavier and thicker aluminum
  • Height
    • Taken at tallest point on pan (fin)
    • M3 = 64.9mm
    • PPE = 76.1mm
  • Other Note
    • PPE has a raised inner lip that will slide up into transmission and help lock/seal the pan. The M3 pan was flat and did not have this inner raised lip so it will only be relying on the gasket.
Haven't installed them yet, still waiting for some more parts to come in. But just thought I would share. Here's some pics.

I feel like the fin design on the bmw one is better.
