If I can level up, find new gear, kill monsters (and then rinse and repeat for 100s of hours), it is for me. Unfortunately I don't seem to make time to game consistently anymore (bought a 4080 1.5 months ago for Starfield and still haven't installed it...)
My all-time favorite, probably because it was my first online RPG was Phantasy Star Online (1 and 2) on Sega Dreamcast. An upgraded version was released for Xbox One and I actually put a decent amount of time into it a year or two back so it got me deep.
Another major time sink was WoW for at least 3-4 years. I'd honestly try it again but it would definitely piss off my wife at some point and kill my other hobbies, its so time consuming.
And then Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim...loved them all.
A lot of good stuff on this list. Halo and Diablo II with buddies back in the day was definitely great times.
Hey, that's a tough one because there are so many great games out there! But if I had to pick one, it would probably be "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." It's got a special place in my heart for its amazing storyline and the countless hours of fun it's brought me.
By the way, if you're a fellow gaming enthusiast and want to make some extra cash, you might want to check out apps that pay you real money. They're a cool way to earn a little something while doing what you love!
Souls games, easily. Dark Souls 1, Dark Souls 3, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, etc.... They are just so good. Even some of the Souls-likes not made by From Software are great, like Nioh 1 and 2, Lies of P, Mortal Shell, etc.
Also a big fan of 2d "metroidvania" games, like Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forest/Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Super Metroid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, etc.
Others: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild, Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
I’ve played tons of games over the years, but I always find myself coming back to the classics. Honestly, my all-time favorite has got to be spider solitaire. It’s not as intense as Halo or anything like that, but I love the chill vibe and the strategy behind it. I can spend ages trying to beat my own high scores and figuring out new ways to win.
best old school game with a quarter was Double Dragon.
Best console game for me was FF7. I replaced an old tv for new OLED LG3 and bought PS5 just to play rebirth. Aside from a few dumb side quest the story and game play was fantastic. Towards the end of game Aerith’S attack is insane OP. Hope to see her again in part 3. hope Rebirth with game of the year.
when I grew into PC its gotta be Half Life Online Team Fortress.
Growing up I spent countless hours on FF7, then of course gran turismo, Grid, and I got into Saints Row then just stopped playing games. I was into racing for a couple years and have a decent “gaming PC” but really don’t play it much. This past Christmas my best friend got me Valheim and I really enjoyed playing that. Then my son and a few friends kept talking about Black Myth Wukong and I played it under my son’s Steam share and next day bought it. Been hooked ever since and last night was the first game I got 100% achievements since Saints Row 3. I love the story, graphics and game play. Now my son wants me to get into Elden Ring.
gotta say I think Black Myth is going to go down as my favorite game of all time.
The game I most enjoy is indeed Escape from Tarkov. There's nothing quite like the feeling of tension as one sneaks through the maps, scavenging for loot and praying one makes it out alive. The game has high stakes, and each raid feels unique. I believe that EFT is the mix of strategy and stakes gaming that I love. I'll admit that dabbling here and there with eft cheats adds a new layer of fun. Still, whether I'm using cheats or not, I keep my daring moves to matches where I'm the only player. Tarkov has that perfect mix of strategy and excitement, making it a classic!
