Here's a step-by-each from the service manual for removing the amplifier (aka cell booster, cell repeater, LTE Compensator)

steps.gif

Ignore the numbers on the following steps. They're taken from different parts of the manual, but are in the correct order:

step-2.gif

step-3.gif

step-4.gif

step-5.gif

step-6.gif

step-7.gif

I'm at a loss, I follow all the steps and the LTE compensator is nowhere to be found. Where is this diagram from????

I've wondered if all markets get them (your car being a Canadian one) since they have to deal with different regulators for cellular frequencies in different countries.

Post a pic of what's behind that panel.

Don't think we have that. Neither do we have wifi for screen sharing.

No idea why you seem to have gotten your panties in a bunch. All I’m saying is there is an incredibly simple alternative to “fixing” the wireless charger.
Honestly, it's this kind of backwards thinking that causes these idiotic problems. I mean, why fix the wind buffeting problem when you can just never open your windows at speed.. or why not add functional vents when the aftermarket will solve this problem for owners.. or hell, why even fix a flat tyre when you can just walk instead?

If designers, engineers and whoever else is responsible for building these products would actually spend time to solve problems properly instead of applying solutions like your "incredibly simple alternative," the world would be a much better place.

This makes me wonder if one could disconnect the antenna from the wireless charger and just hook up a better one that could possibly boost signal for everyone in the car regardless of where the phone is. Folks in the off-roading community use weboost and similar products for the same purpose.

Is this even still a problem? There was an update like a month ago that should have fixed this. I had my phone on the wireless charger for a 10hr trip last week lmao.

So now I’m both ignorant and backwards! ?

I’m honestly not trying to stir the pot further and I’m not offended in the least by any of this - I’ve been called much worse in my life and some of it is probably deserved. I can’t help myself though. I just have to respond.

Your examples just aren’t accurate. You are saying why fix the wind buffeting when you can just not open the windows. In actuality, this scenario is more of a you can “fix” the wind buffeting by either removing the cell repeater or whatever it is you all want to remove or you can use a USB cable instead. In both cases the wind buffeting is fixed and you can in fact drive with the windows down. Same with your flat tire example. In both situations the phone gets charged (ie the tire is not flat) and no walking is required. I honestly don’t follow the non functional vent example. That one is apples and oranges. You are wanting to actually change the function in that one which is entirely different from the fact that our phones will work exactly the same and do 99% of the same things whether being charged wirelessly or by a USB. That’s all I’m saying. ?

Maybe we don't have that in Australia either but if we don't, what's making the phone so damn hot?

Meh. I disagree. Its a design fault. Like the other things I mentioned, the car will operate with all of these faults (even the flat tyre, albeit not well) but it's all good - keep using that USB if it gets your jollies.

My phone still gets quite hot sitting in there. I haven't gone on any long ass trips though. And on that 10h journey are you sure that blue light was on the whole time? Maybe your phone moved?

???

I unplugged mine a few weeks ago and it still causes the iOS overheating warning when I’m using Apple Maps and CarPlay at the same time.
