So i assume the one you want is not a $60k car but more of a $100k+!And i don't think is only 340hp because that will be funny compared to the price!
maybe not quite that high :D

Hell, maybe they tested all this time to see if any issues like bearings or leaks popped up so they can see where it went wrong before giving It TO the masses
smart man. err, or woman if I'm not assuming genders? o_O

We near 4 years right? Around the time shit starts falling apart?

50k miles or so of heavy duty driving equals about 100k miles or so,

Hmm What AM I driving?
Honestly and I think many will agree with me. If it's a good overall package and strikes a good balance between everything. Maybe Porsche 911 pricing territory is what it deserves.

It's suppose to be a halo car, meaning it's not suppose to be in every person garage. That's what the 86 is for, I mean I can't afford something passed Corvette territory. But I'm not going to moan and groan about it. If I wanted something around that price and it has that bang for your buck performance then I'd have to give up on toyota get off my fanboi train and just get a Corvette or save up for something else.

I will groan if they charge 100k for something that is basically an 86 though. But I expect better from TOYOTA and BMW lol :)

I have high hopes and I'm sure they will deliver. It might not make everyone happy but it will make enough people happy imho

A70TTR, thanks for the recent posts...

I just wish this speculation and interpreting the subtext of others was over... I think I need to stay away until March 6.

I can not imagine a toyota costing 90k or more. Then again, it is about perfirmance, not the luxury seats or interior, so they can throw in 90k worth of power and handling while neglecting ride quality and interior.

A nissan GTR is 100k or so, and it isn't reknowned for its interior.

I just want them to fucking let loose. The toyota will be the skinner, athletic cousin to the bulky, but almost as fast and competent Lexus branch.

If Lexus has a 467 HP RCF at 60k with luxury interior, what can toyota conjure up for more money, less luxury and less weight?

Disagree. The 911 and the Supra represent 2 different things and that should reflect on pricing.

1- It for me is absurd to think that an economy manufacturer that has been out of the market for 20 years, up and release a sports car with the price tag of a Porsche that has been consistently making and improving the 911.

2- Comparatively, The 1998 Toyota Supra TT had an Msrp of roughly $40,000, compare that to a 1998 911 Carrera S of $63,000. (They were never priced to compete.)

The lure of the Supra was the bang for buck, that has to and should carry over to the new Supra if it is to be successful.

Create a car that re-ignites everything that made the old the Supra special with better technology and a price that the enthusiast can justify and the rest will come.

That said in my mind i'm thinking the top of the line non race spec would make sense at the 60-70K range.

Toyota was making and improving the celica and the supra for many years , so we had the mk4 supra that was truly amazing , a pure GT car that was better than its class and competed with cars of higher classes (like GTRs and porsches ) and even beat them sometimes. Also the celica GT4 is one beast of a car that too competed with higher priced cars like the lancer evolution . So yeah it would be mad if they price it above 70k. Though the thing is that I am starting to think the 86 project and this one is just a warm up for the younger toyota engineers to catch up to the leading brands in performance and the next gen cars will be true to the toyota sports car roots *removes tinfoil hat.

Time to win the lottery.

But yeah, this focus on making sports cars, driving porsche 911 and actively working with BMW, who's focus is performance over everything suggests they want to learn what it means to feel inspired after a drive. Tetsuya Tada worked on the 86, drove in f1 motorsport races, Akio Toyoda himself wnting to make exciting cars, this might be the second coming of the JDM taking over the market again.

Its great that everyone is so passionate about this, I'm going to sit back and watch now. I'm with A70, I think that it probably wont be what we expect and there might be some sticker shock.
I think if the performance is there, yes it will be pricey....

Aside from the joke i made there is some truth in it. The Gazoo brand will be like AMG and M and to compete with them right now toyota needs to train the whole group of people running this performance arm . This is the only thing that makes sense right now to me , i don't take toyota for fools to not know that a supra and even a celica is somehing enirely different than a roadster with a fixed roof.
