Anyone else waiting for the 2022 announcement before they pull the trigger?

Sold my C7 Stingray to Carvana last week - the offer was too good to pass up on. I've decided on the Supra as the replacement for it but want to see what Toyota has in store for MY 2022 before I pull the trigger.

Mostly just curious if they add new colors or if they'll do another limited edition. It doesn't seem like any other major changes are in store.

There are some really good deals on leftover 2021s though so hopefully I don't get burned and miss out on those if I wait too long...

Hard to be patient!

Per the insiders on other threads, nothing seems to be changing. maybe talks of red interior...
A friend got a white C7 like a month ago..

I'm curious why not a C8?

I know why I didn't go for a C8... either A. Wait time or B. Didn't want to pay that much over MSRP

As for the original question, I was waiting on the 22 info too, but I ran into a tunable 2021 that I couldn't pass up.

Waiting for the announcement as well. Hoping for Android Auto with MY22. The red interior rumor would also be awesome. I'm willing to wait for the possibility of either. Hopefully we're a month or so out

Just remember, those early 21's that can be tunable are at a greater risk of the oil consumption issue. So be sure to monitor that.

All I know is, I'll be more than a little ticked off if they introduce the Supra with a S55.

22 will either be major changes, because they have waited much longer than last time to give us a clue, or it will literally be a super minor refresh and in that case there is no reason to not sell 21s, well till the near end of 21. I noticed they also released the new sienna in Jan 21, strategic perhaps?

Additionally we're about to hit a massive computer chip shortage, which has already been occurring and will quantify quickly. Good luck even buying a new car 6-8 months from now and I mean that seriously. Toyota has stock piled chips but who knows how long that will last. Other manufacturers are already facing MASSIVE shortages. On a side note, Best to buy any electronics you want or need right now. Good luck getting them soon.
Supra is fairly low production but might go even lower production if that happens. Toyota won't priotize the supra as itdoesn't sell, when they need and can put chips into Ravs and highlanders.
Oh wait, it's a BMW!
In that case...good luck Supra 22 lol. Bet the 22 will have the lowest production count of all model years to come and have past. Not saying any of this is bad for the Supra, actually it's pretty sweet depreciation wise. Plus it's going to be in the new F9 movie as one of the main cars it seems. Can't be bad for us Supra owners.

As a 21 owner, I'd say wait for the 22 because you already sold your car. Might as well stick it out and get the latest and greatest and if you have the funds maybe stick it out for the C8 Z06. I'm personally waiting for the ZR1 C8 before I make a decision.

If you can't take the pain of skipping and entire spring and summer of driving, I'd say pick up the Supra now. Besides anecdotal instances of consumption the 21 (crossing my fingers) is an excellent car as packaged. Nothing really needed, but lots of things wanted, which makes it fun as you get to make it your own with mods. So many mods. And hopefully cracked ecu soon. 22 good chance it will be locked again.
Just my 2 cents

Very odd that we still haven't seen anything official. Around this time last year the 21 MY we're well into production.

It hasn’t been confirmed that early 2021’s are oil consumption prone. We don’t know which production lots are impacted or if its sporadic.

My lease is coming up in June and I tried to find a blue supra but have had 0 luck, seems like they're all sold. I don't even care about the special edition, I just want that blue! Hope they announce it for 2022.

I work at tmmi east plant (we build the siennas and highlanders, west builds sequoia and highlanders, same building) we didn't even start trial builds on siennas until late. We were behind a out 3 months due to Corona virus. So the Jan launch was not strategic haha. As far as the chip shortage goes, tmmi and the plant making ravs are top priority, especially since the new sienna is outselling the highlanders and took 2nd behind the rav. Our build has actually increased and Saturday production days. Through June. The Supra etc is most likely behind like the sienna was, but probably more so as it is not a priority for Toyota.

I was waiting for the MY22, but decided against waiting and just purchased a 21 in Nocturnal. I had a deposit down for a Refractive Blue a91, but Toyota decided they weren't going to honor the money down. As they never bring back a color on any of their other platforms(TRD Pro) I figured the Blue was done

With all the 2021 oil issues im reading about, im hesitant to pull the trigger. Ill most likely wait for the 2022 and hopefully see some fixes. Unless I can find a deal I cant pass up on a used 2020 without the oil issues. Sadly all the used 2020 premiums in SoCal are 50-52k+.
