Thanks for the concern but I do know what calibrate means in terming of R&D. I'm sure Toyota is also calibrating the eco mapping, etc but my comment about the "calibration" was about engineering some more reliability into the engine. I'm sure Toyota knows that BMW doesn't make a reliable engine and since Toyota's are known for their reliability, I'd think that if Toyota is going to buy the engines from BMW, they'd want to make sure that the engines meets some kind of minimum reliability benchmarking. In other words, they need to last for more than 100k miles.Hi there, I don't think you understand what calibration means in oem/production cars.
Engine calibration (oem) = engine/ecu mapping (tuner).
My interpretation is that the hardware be exactly the same as BMW B58, but that the ecu/throttle mapping/stability control tuning, will be done to Toyota taste/specs. Which means the car will be different to drive, but have all the BMW reliability issues haha.
Also, the stripped out racecar interior clearly shows, I think, a 2 seater only.

It was more of a sarcastic comment. That's why I put the words calibrate in quotes.
