And everyone in this forum hates the Z as you can tell by the poll. Can't you see it goes both ways. People love the car they purchased and they hate the competition.

Do not hate it. Not as attractive as the 370Z I owned and enjoyed. Styling is bland. Much of the car is a carryover done for cost, understandable. The styling is a mix to capture the heritage and for me its a fail. Its an Audi A7 with 2 doors. The front is an E, electric car fail. The motor is a V6 with 2 Turbo's thats nice and not really notable overall. They built a sportscar on the cheap as its low volume - same for the Supra. It comes with a manual and its got buzz right now. It will be heavier than the 370 and probably the Supra from what is NOT being discussed.

It might be faster and if so its probably such a small/marginal difference no one can tell. The only sense I get from the forums is BMW hate. Thats what the Supra brings out in the Z crowd lol. Most have not driven a Supra. I have not driven the Z. Aesthetics are what I dont like. Given it is taller than the Supra you have a CG and mass difference which will be to the Supra advantage. Even that might be very marginal to the Supra advantage.

Nissan has said this is a GT overall. The arguments on these type forums will be about margins. Thats it. Price being #1 and manual gearbox #2 then some speed timing etc. Wont matter if you just drive what you like and enjoy it. I will test the new Z. My aesthetic view means little and the curiosity to feel what the car offers in actual driving is more important.

Interior wise the Z is again lots of throwback for some reason. Nice but prefer the Supra. Most of the original 240 owners are too old or DEAD to care. But we see what the car means to each generation and to the Nissan/Datsun. Fun to debate all this but its what you want or feel that matters most. Not what others toss at you in spite.

Aesthetically the Z is alright. I like it from the side, am impartial from the rear. And hate it from the front. Itā€™s a little boring overall, but not the end of the world.

What not enough people are talking about though is that itā€™s running a *completely open deck block*. Anyone who wants to make more than stockish power levels on that platform is going to be in for a rude awakening. Iā€™d expect it to start cracking sleeves and chewing through head gaskets at even tuned stock turbo power levels.

I went back and watched the Savagegeese review of the 2019 370 Nismo. They didnā€™t like the manual gearbox, didnā€™t like the steering feel and feedback, were concerned about the brakes and cooling at the track, and felt the Mustang and Camaro were far superior.

This is my concern with the new Z. Did Nissan mail this thing in with mostly the same recycled parts and expect a different outcome ? Their 370 Nismo was $45K with a manual. Iā€™m guessing a loaded new Z Nismo optioned car will be pushing close to or over $50K..
Agreed and based on the Frontier refresh I would suspect so

Corporate attitude is to do just that. Make new, hype image with retro-feel and looks, recycle parts into 'new' platform. So overall a 370Z that looks worse to me. This is the way of the Corporate Auto Makers. Partnerships, parts bin re-use etc. Its keeps sportscars being built in an era of oversized trucks and boxes that look like crap and are severely under utilized to put it mildly.

I guess we should be happy overall or we have fewer choices in the sportscar world.

Lol, imagine thinking that showing a couple dyno plots of cars at tuned stock turbo power levels discounts literally anything I said. I never said they couldnā€™t make more power, just that it wonā€™t last. Thereā€™s a reason open deck blocks are reserved for cheap NA engines.

Thereā€™s also a reason Supraā€™s, GTRā€™s, Vettes and Vipers all use closed deck motors. One of the selling points for me was the B58ā€™s closed deck. You want to bring out safe reliable power out of the VR30 youā€™re going to have to fork out over $10,000 for that sleeved motorā€¦.just another pain in the ass.

I mean, Nisan did at least put in a newish engine and a 9 speed Mercedes transmission (in the Frontier) so that's definitely a step in the right direction. The problem (to me) is the engine still gets lousy fuel economy not much better than the old truck and they didn't really introduce anything new (tech or feature wise). I suppose given their cash crunch they are probably thankful to be able to launch what they have.

Like all of us at some points - maximize what is on hand to push forward! :)
