Regardless of why a particular company's price drops, I'm just glad we are one step closer to making the unlocking/tuning process easier and that the market price is starting to level out.

I can't wait until the unlocking process can be done stateside and they no longer need to send to Russia. That's when the price point might be right for me and I'll pull the trigger.

So. Since we’d now have our original/locked ECU and a second, unlocked ECU…would this be a way to “go back to stock” if warranty work was needed? Just change out ECUs?
I asked a similar question, but sort of to the opposite point. It's not like we're on some secret, encrypted channel here, and the tuning shops are openly advertising this service. Toyota will almost certainly get wise to swapped ECUs, and the discrepancies caused by changing the ECU back might give you away.

There's 70 some pages of whatever here, but Toyota doesn't car. BMW doesn't care. Bosch cares. Bosch needs to make 'all reasonable effort' to prevent hacks of self-driving technology and AI IP. Toyota does not give a shit if you tune (and subsequenty ruin) your car.

If you want to keep buying Supras and eat them Toyota will happily sell you as many as they can produce.

Well for starters thats a huge warranty fraud. Also the dealer can tell the other ecu was in the car, first trigger is going to be when the milage doesn't match the odomoter. If you are doing this mod toss the warranty out the window. They can also pull logs and see the car has way surpassed factory parameters regardless.

The logs are on the ECU, my guy.

Actually a good question though. Is the milage stored on both the ECU and the instrument cluster? I'd guess not, but i'm not really sure.

It's all fun and games until someone screenshots a post and snitches to the dealer (like that example on FB). Even if it turns out that swapping ECUs isn't trackable (except for the power being cut and having to relearn things/rerun emissions readiness checks), I'm gonna guess no tuner will outright recommend committing warranty fraud. At least not on a public forum ?‍♂

Can you find another super secret way to unlock that’ll get your price down? Jesse has you beat by 400 assuming his ecu doesn’t need the bench unlock
[/QUOTE]

You can spend your money wherever youd like. We're the only company thats actually done this and proven it. Best of luck :)

I think we have reached an end then. I’ll summarize..

Visconti: 3000 (unlock) + 900 (ecutek stuff) + 0 (includes bench flash)
Jesse: 3500 (unlock) + 0 (includes bench unlock AND ecutek stuff)

ecutek users save by going with Jesse and bm3 users save going with Visconti. « As of right now »

Possibly. Until you need flex fuel, port injection, lpfp … because not many are going to spend the money for the unlock on an OTS file.

Which of course everyone knows that everyone uses our fuel systems also while being one of the only authorized EcuTek unlock stations in the USA.

Don’t just count the pennies, count the dollars. :)
