It makes sense for the EU and Japan to have a 4 cyl model. Don't they have stricter emission standards and heavy taxes on engine displacement or something a long those lines?

the difference between 2.0 and 3.0 in Japan is an extra 13,000 YEN (119 USD) per year so I don't think that would really be the reason..

Hmm I think a good example or a baseline to go by would be how Japan did their 86, IIRC they had a model that you can buy with nothing inside and it just had steelies for wheels.

I'm also of the group that doesn't trust the given numbers in this thread. I don't think that it being around 50K is realistic for example 63K is too high I would put my guess at about 56-58k as for the weight numbers, I think these are based off cars with full BMW gadgets. If this was with Toyota items (Fabric with leather insert Seats etc.) it will be lighter.

In my opinion I think the fully loaded would be about 405hp 3200lbs at 58k and a blank one would be at about 400hp 3000lbs at 52K

and just for kicks, a Hybrid assist one at 3350lbs 380hp but a much higher torque and a 10 speed instead of the ZF 8.

The 86 in Japan lost about one hundred pounds and cost 24k at the time when in Japan it was around 28k, so that's easily 4k in dolalrs saved from a rac eeprspective.

That's not including a higher trim option that costs far more money as well.

Yeah you're right, and lol am I the only one that hoped we got a Toyota Steering wheel either something similar to the first gen 86 or what's in the Corolla HB, Avalon, Camry lol. I don't mind that Cruise control stock it's nice and easy to use.

I also might have been the only one that wanted a crazy hybrid one. And that's probably only because I really enjoyed the LC500H.

We won't be getting a Hybrid until like the latter years of the generation and it's uncertain waht Toyota has cooked up by then. I don't know about the tech so I don't want to say anything about it.

Toyota cannot, not see this by now, as fast as it's spreading. Maybe it will persuade them to offer a little more than they originally planned, if the specs are true. One thing to think about, it wasnt their market that kept asking for a new Supra, it was really the enthusiast. So to ignore what we want, the people that push the envelope, I think that puts a negative mark on what they (Toyota) think of their future customer base. I mean the Q60 has a V6 400hp in either RWD/AWD. The new Z will likely have that motor as a base. Are they going to seriously offer us less?

The typical buyer for this car (at least in their minds) is sadly not the sort of individual I'd associate with, and unfortunately that was the case for the A70 and A80 too.

I generally just picture those 50yr old Corvette owners lol.
