I believe the weight gain is due to "Lane assist, Pre-Collision warning, Navigation, Parking assist, etc", on OP, and not a hybrid system.

I'm glad you brought up the 911. So the rumored specs aren't that far off from the 911 Carrera, and all at around $30k less.

(Later hinted by Guff and A70)
Supra: 380hp, 3,250lbs, $60k
911 Carrera MT: 370hp, 3,153lbs, $91k
Power of a 911
Weight of a GT3 RS
Handling of a Cayman
Price close to a 718

I dont get why so many people keep saying "i trust tada." Did you forget his team gave us the 86 abortion? Looks like hes 0/2 now.

Please keep Tada the fuck away from any sports car.
I think a little extra juice would be nice. However, there seems to be double standard going on. I don't see anyone complaining about the Miata not having enough power.

Even if the HP is bumped up, I still have a hard time believing the Zupra will truly hold up against a Porsche considering the extra weight while being a FR layout...the specs & price give me the impression that they designed and engineered this by committee, everyone wanted their hand in the pot and no single aspect was focused upon...

"Zupra" It depends. If you're benchmarking this against a 718, it is actually pretty competitive. Now people will say that MR is superior. I don't know, I've neither driven an MR car hard, nor have I driven a Supra MkV. So it's really an unfair comparison.
Take a standard 2.0L (do they still make those?) 718 Cayman with PDK, and it shares a lot of figures. Sure it's lighter, but that's what makes it a Porsche. Power figures, 0-60 times, top speed, all are similar.
The Toyota is a bit more GT-like, heavier, with more power and driver assists. So the Porsche is very slightly out of its league, sitting on the light-and-spry scale between it and something as light and underpowered as a BRZ or MX-5 RF.

Also, is it just me, or does the new Supra look just too pretty to modify?

You act like modders care about aesthetics to start, they gon add some good makeup on this car. Give it six months

Or it could be because of the modding potential. Civics aren't ridiculed for lack of power. If you cared, you could make a 700whp Civic; they're that tuneable. It's because of Honda's small engines division (lawnmowers).

With such a hefty weight, and no transaxle, yes the Supra will have difficult time competing against a Porsche. The Supra ends up being a BMW 2/4 Series with only two seats, rather than a baby LFA with FI I6. The Supra should actually be faster than the LFA. (I know fast cars a useless and irrational, especially for all those -- most of them -- that can not handle that, but people want them and buy some extent. Anything lower than 5kg/PS is not necessary.

Yes, everyone that did not buy one.

Just want to point out from an earlier thread (I can't recall which one), I remember seeing one of the BMW bosses stating that the Z4 and Supra would drive completely differently. I'm not sure if that has changed now. I would like to think that it is true.
