In fairness, that’s not hard to do. I found a picture of some FM chassis patiently waiting for assembly:The 350/370 seems to be older than some of the people that comment here.

Right, and I don't think anyone here is saying that you're going to see top notch leather on a $40k car.True, I saw the Z at the Cleveland Auto Show yesterday, but it was locked obviously. But it's not a far stretch to say that if you want a BMW level of quality interior, you'd have to step up to Infiniti.
Side note, I did sit in the new GR86 and that was surprisingly nice. Roomier than the old one, and a very nice steering wheel. Harder to get into than the Supra though. Think my head was between my knees trying to squeeze in ?
How so? A performance package will probably still be under a full loaded 4 banger. It won't be. If you were to fully spec it similar to the GR Supra the Z will creep VERY close in price.
Right, exactly. It's just funny people are too stupid/biased/ignorant (take your pick) to realize there's more to a car than horsepower numbers.Right, and I don't think anyone here is saying that you're going to see top notch leather on a $40k car.
I'm actually glad you brought up the 86. Quality should improve over time. The 370 was an improvement over the 350 imo. We'll find out how this new Z stacks up.

I mean, you're not far off, the FM platform was already in the development in the 90s and debut in early 2000s, for cars that is old AF, and by the time it came out, it was average at best.In fairness, that’s not hard to do. I found a picture of some FM chassis patiently waiting for assembly:

Pretty much, a 2.0 with the Safety & Technology Package is about $48k.How so? A performance package will probably still be under a full loaded 4 banger.
So to summarize:
1. Should see specs in April/May, with a release date in June
2. Pricing isn't set yet but estimates should fall Sport manual ~40k, Sport automatic ~42k, Performance manual ~45-47k, and Performance auto ~47-49k
3. There are a multitude of legal acrobatics that prevent a manufacturer from dictating what any dealership charges for a vehicle in the US.
Is this actually true? I've heard this both ways - some folks always describe it as BMW interior, but I've also heard a lot of the interior trim parts are not BMW but actually Toyota. Obviously, the electronics suite / iDrive etc are BMW, but if you compare the interior to the Z4, it looks fairly different in terms of parts, for example.Yup, $6600 difference between a cheap plastic Nissan interior, and a nice quality BMW interior. It may cost more, but the Supra is the better bargain.
I'm talking about the inline-six. And just a few grand cheaper than a car that's arguably better in every single performance metric is a hard sell.Right, and I don't think anyone here is saying that you're going to see top notch leather on a $40k car.

History says otherwise, but ok.I'm talking about the inline-six. And just a few grand cheaper than a car that's arguably better in every single performance metric is a hard sell.
Idk if I would phase it like that. That's like saying the ES is a better bargain than a Camry/Avalon because it has a nicer interior. Some people just don't need all the extra goodies. In closing, you get what you paid for. Like a few have stated, the Z is like the Japanese Mustang. Good performance for the money and a lot of people are just going to be fine with that. Those same people also forget, that if the Supra was badged as a BMW coupe, it would start in the $70k range and nobody would bat an eye. That's why I say the Supra is a better bargain than the Z will ever be. You pay a little more, but you get a lot more.
I hope you realize the sheer price difference between those cars. Just saying.History says otherwise, but ok.
Z31: 258,857
A70: 78,658
Z32: 82,760

Yeah like what? $5k-$6k differences depending on trim level.I hope you realize the sheer price difference between those cars. Just saying.
I'm talking about the price differences back in the day. And also think about the dollar and inflation. You need to take many things into account.Yeah like what? $5k-$6k differences depending on trim level.
2023 Z: $40k-$49k (est.)
2022 Supra: $43k-$55k
Not sure what your point is.
It's kinda ridiculous that the Z still doesn't have a LSD as standard despite now having around 400 hp, even the much less powerful and much cheaper BRZ/GR86 has an LSD as standard. The biggest complaint that I'm seeing when it comes to the Z is that there will not be an option for LSD on the base model. I think it will cost about $2k with parts and labor to get an aftermarket one in there.
Yeah LSD should have been standard or at least an option at the very least. However, the argument of no car is 100% prefect can be made and many would probably say it would still be better getting a base Z and then installing an aftermarket LSD vs the 2.0 Supra. It's kinda ridiculous that the Z still doesn't have a LSD as standard despite now having around 400 hp, even the much less powerful and much cheaper BRZ/GR86 has an LSD as standard.
