Executives and accountants hate him as although sport cars are awesome, it will never sell like a camry and never give them that massive check at the end of the year. We need more people like Akio who enables engineers like Tada and A70 who most likely enjoys these types of projects the most

Here is hoping the new marketing tactics being done causes a shift to add a bigger budget and an all toyota vehicle down the road or at least, a permanent spot for enthusiasts

This part caught my eye. I wonder if Toyota will be utilizing a revised version of the Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD) found on the Lexus RC-F and GS-F.

I will say from my experience with having an OS Giken clutch differential on my track-tuned IS350, this was the single greatest upgrade I've experienced with improving the driving feel and pleasure of the vehicle on a road course.

I think the double bubble roof plays more in the role for extra headroom. I think the backseats were axed because of the short wheel base and weight savings.

It will probably use the BMW version called "Active M differential", but with Toyota programming / tuning.

• Current supplied to an electric-motor connected to a reduction gear directly rotates the cam gear of a unidirectional ball-ramp mechanism
• This rotational torque causes the balls to roll up the opposing ramps which pushes the front cam forward
• The cam thrust is transmitted through the pressure disc compressing the clutch
• The rotational torque from the outer plates (input) is then transferred to the inner plates (output) proportional to the electrical current
• An Electronic Control Unit (ECU) controls the clutch torque by adjusting the amount of current based on available vehicle inputs (DSC) and a custom control algorithm
• Torque transfer is mechanically pre-emptive and does not require any speed difference to activate (electronics)
• Full and continuous lock-up is available (0.5 A current)

Didn't the guy who's neighbor drives a supra suggest there was an electronic motor or assist with twin turbo?

Toyota's new sports car made its driving debut at Goodwood in prototype form

The upcoming Toyota Supra could have as much as 390lb ft and weigh 1500kg, Toyota’s chief engineer for the project, Tetsuya Tada, told Autocar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where the car has made its dynamic debut.

“I can’t disclose specific figures, but the output of this engine is on a par with that which we have with the F-Series from Lexus,” Tada said. The RC-F and GS-F make 389lb ft. He continued: “But you can imagine from seeing it that the car is light and compact – its wheelbase is even shorter than the GT86’s. It’s around 200-300kg lighter than the F-Series [which weighs around 1700-1800kg].”

This backs information recently leaked onto the web that claimed that the Supra will weigh 1496kg, making it 250kg heavier than the GT86 and 14kg lighter than the fourth-generation Supra, which went out of production in 2002. This would also make the car 14kg lighter than a PDK-equipped Porsche 911 Carrera S, with which the Supra's expected 0-62mph time of 3.8sec would make it most comparable.

We’ll see the new Supra in finished form very early in 2019, prior to production starting in the spring. It comes alongside a new BMW Z4 as the result of a technical partnership between the two companies.

The Supra will have a turbocharged straight-six engine driving its rear wheels and “a limited-slip differential and 50:50 weight distribution,” according to Tada.

2018 bmw b58 with 382hp makes 369 ft,i suspect supra engine to be something close to that!

I'm just going to go with the typical, give people low expectations, blow them away once it comes out

390 ft-lbs, so power is on par of the F series, which 467hp iirc. If so, count me in!!
