Speaking of the 2000GT, I think they should have included it in the group photo. I also know for a fact that there is a red one in the UK.

F**k this car is beautiful. It's the kind of car that should be revived in some form with modern tweaks like the Singer Porsche.

Speaking from personal experience A60/70 owners are all over the place in terms of personality and little sub clicks, there seems to be 3 main groups due to the extreme variance of condition/ affordability of cars.

1: The kind that will keep er running with a piece of string and don't have the word paint or detailing in their vocabulary (typically sub 30 years old with a hacked off exhaust crunched quarter panels and rot holes the size of Kansas) they also love to have Hoonigan decals plastered all over their cars.

2: Then theres the old guys who have had a supra since new and therefore if you are under the age of 30 you automatically have ruined your car. (this has also occasionally happened to me with mk4 guys as well). While some are nice I have experienced individuals automatically painting the younger members with the same brush at meets and such. Labeling everyone as "not worthy" because of the "typical beater drift car" image. I have been initially shrugged off a handful of times talking to these people only for them to find out I take better care of my car then some of them do.

3: The smallest (and my personal favourite group) The "OEM plus" crowd. People from all sorts of backgrounds and ages are here (myself included). They modified their car to the exact spec that they wanted without hacking them up unnecessarily, there aren't many of us but for many years they were my inspiration to modify/maintain my car to the highest level that I could even back when I was a young lad in high school years ago. (Even to the point of walking to school in the winter because I refused to let my car see or touch snow lol)

As long as I can remember I have always wanted an a60, I searched for nearly 3 years with my dad to find the cleanest one I could as my first car when I was 16 a difficult feat being in central Canada. We ended up finding a red 5 speed with a black interior). Ive had my car over 5 years and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Because of it I have made countless friends and acquaintances. I know that the a60/70 crowd can be quirky but there a few of us out there that aren't too bad .

My black A60 was originally SDR like yours. If I had my time again.... It'd probably be still red...

The big change going from 4-5 A60 to an A80 owner is parts availability.... with an A60, anything you want basically doesn't exist anymore, needs to be custom, and that's expensive.

Proud to be OEM plus haha.... My A60 is my daily for the next few weeks, and even after driving my 2010 W204, it's still really cool to jump in and drive.

This maybe a dumb question, but why did Toyota skip "A50"?

Toyota didn't skip the A50, they just didn't build a Supra using an A50 chassis.

The 'A' chassis was originally used for the Toyota Carina, the A10, A30 and A50 were not used for the Celica or Supra, but were used for the Carina.

The Celica was built on a similar platform as the A10 and was the A20. A30 was again used for the Carina.

A40 was used for the Celica, Supra and Carina. A50 was only used for the Carina.

A60 was used for the Celica, Supra and Carina.

In 1985 the Celica and Carina moved to the FWD T chassis platform and the RWD A chassis continued for the Supra only.

A10/30/40/50/60 are Carina
A20/40/60/70/80 are RWD Celica/Supra

Excluding the new Supra, my opinion is that a nicely setup A70 is the nicest looking Supra, but also that most A70's look like junk. Percentage wise I would say there are many more nice looking A80's than A70's.

The new A90 is about on par with a nice A70 out of the box. I have a few concerns with a couple of design elements but suspect they will be less substantial without camo and in person.

A80/A60 are about equal for me, though they are very different
A40 is tough.. I like the A40 Celica coupes a bit, but the liftback (including the Supra) are a bit off to me

I´ll probably have to put my flame suit on here, but I´m not really a hardcore fan of any of the previous Supras.

A90 is interesting to me because they have focused on handling as their n.1 priority on development. It will be competitive or outhandle Porsche mid engine cars, and will absolutely destroy any previous Supra on a racetrack.
At the same time, they have also focused on power potential and aftermarket support: iron block, beefy drivetrain, space for a big single turbo speak to this commitment.
All in a good looking package, with a reasonable cost/performance ratio.

I´ll gladly buy one. And I think Toyota will get a lot of new customers with this car.

A80 owners seem to be wishing the A90 to fail because they believe that will somehow raise their cars value. That´s not only childish and simplistic, but also not understanding how the sports car market works: an awesome A90 is the best bet to increase the value of the whole Supra nameplate. Each generation differences will be valued in their own light. See old school 911: with each new design old gen owners scream "sacrilege!", "not a real Porsche any more", "mine is better because of X". And somehow, new gens sell a lot, perform great, and they help to grow the legend of the nameplate and the marque.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say that I don’t like the mk4’s, if I wasn’t a student and had the financial means to purchase a mk4 I would love to. The a60 just has an amount of sentimental value to me that is irrirplacable. Even with brand new coilovers and other basic breather mods the mk2 isn’t anything that’ll blow your socks off. The people who tend to keep them and drive them with a silly grin on their face do so because it is an emotional purchase.
I feel like the same can be said about many many kinds of cars. I’m sure the a90 will be no different in that regard. On paper possibly not the “best buy” for outright power/performance from factory. But reading the way Tada says the car feels is what really gets me excited and hopeful.

I know I may be a little pedantic here but c'mon -- the rear tail lights don't have individual turn lights when on? I hate that. For those who don't understand what I'm talking about, if you take a look at the first video on Instagram posted on the top of this forum, you can see at the end of the video the guy turned on his right turn signal. The signal is also the brake lights. So when you're on the brakes, all three lights come on. But when you're on the brakes and one of the signals turn on, only 2 of the brake lights are on while one brake light is used as a turn signal. I don't know about you but this pisses me off when I'm driving and I get slightly confused when I see someone either attempting to brake, signal, or both. As much as I like the styling, why couldn't they put the damn signal light within the little outline of the brake lights?

I think that's enough ranting from me today. Haha.
