Re: exhaust (@zrk)

We have dyno proof of a car picking up 45WHP on a Pure 800, on the same tune + map, just by switching from the OEM 3.15" downpipe and RK Signature Titanium exhaust setup to a true 4" downpipe and 4" exhaust solution. Stock turbo has shown more like 10-15 WHP gain with the switch to a true 4" exhaust, which is still nothing to sneeze at.

Similar results have been demonstrated in 2011 on the Mk4 Supra.

3.0" Downpipe + 3.0" Exhaust @ 19 PSI = 507 WHP
3.0" Downpipe + 3.5" Exhaust @ 19 PSI = 527 WHP
3.5" Downpipe + 3.0" Exhaust @ 19 PSI = 567 WHP
3.5" Downpipe + 3.5" Exhaust @ 19 PSI = 610 WHP

Why is this happening? Because the flow of air and water is functionally limited by the narrowest section in the exhaust. The OEM downpipe has an exit that's 3.15", and almost all the aftermarket exhausts hook up to that 3.15", which makes the whole system flow like a 3.15" exhaust. It doesn't matter if the downpipe is 5" and the exhaust is 3.5", because if that OEM 3.15" section is there, then that's what you're gonna get for flow.

AFAIK, only Remnant Performance Leviathan (comes with DP), Boostin Performance Heritage (option + you provide DP), and ETS Exhaust (+ their DP) offer a true 4" exhaust from the turbo back. If you're getting anything smaller, you're leaving performance on the table. Even with the stock turbo.
Would have been really interesting if you didn't also take the OEM DP out at the same time. Hard to know if it was 1:1 the catback or taking out the two stage OEM cat. I'm willing to bet it was more to do with taking the OEM two stage cat out of the system but that doesn't sell product.

Update:

I added a section for JB+. Still debating on whether to add bimmer code or not as the focus of the thread is mostly performance. I will let you know if I add bimmer code
Sport Mode Plus bro… LOL. You do you, I’m sure folks will appreciate the fruits of your labor

I was genuinely thinking about that as well LMAO. I'll look into it. I'll also edit the thread try to make it cleaner. Then I'll start with the pdf.

A lot of conflicting information around about this one. Some say its a good setting, some say not so much. Something definitive would be nice. Maybe focus on engine performance related coding?

I'll just leave it out.

Like what?
There is no performance-related coding. In fact, I would say Bimmercode is irrelevant to everything in this thread.

I was referring to Sport+. As I mentioned earlier, some commentators have suggested it is worth doing, others not.
As not confuse many people I'll just leave it out.

I'm a grammar nazi, I apologize. ConfOrmation is different than confIrmation.

Maybe I missed it, but should put something in about port injection and options and when you need it. There are also different size injector options for port injection, but I suspect anyone that's getting that deep into it is doing their own research... maybe the intended audience should be FBO guys? IDK.

Will fix that.

Yes it's intended for people who are willing to go for bolt-ons, but I want to make this thread cover everything from point A to Z. Basically turbo upgrades / fueling / tuning / building engines and transmissions etc. So going back to fueling / port injection I dont know much about it. I will have to do my research on it. Or maybe @zrk can explain it and I can add it to the thread.
