Not too long ago, I had to change oil from non-supra B58 engine which also uses same oil & filter. All was going as expected until I pulled out oil filter.
old filter was torn and missing bottom part. The construction of the filter is, basically, paper and plastic column in the middle so i heard it is common problem if you apply excessive force to open oil filter cap. But in this case, I did not use any force which lead me to believe that it was already broken and previous mechanic, cut the bottom of the filter to put this filter in. I tried to fish it out but the bottom part was stuck and won't come out and cannot put new one in because filter cap won't close as is. Easy 20 min. oil change was going over hours of figuring out what to do... Also.. used spoid to syphon out all the remaining oil in oil filter container.
So I went down to home depot and bought screws as long as I can get, 4 1/2 inches long.. and used angle grinder to made slit at the end of the tip to look somewhat like self-tapping screw.
Then screwed it to the bottom part in the container to take it out.
it went in quite a bit that I had to use tool to unscrew it from the broken piece. 4 1/2 was long enough but I would've preferred 5 inches. I hope it helps if it ever happens to you.
