For those of you that have replaced your alcantara boot or are planning to…would you be willing to let me take it off your hands for a reasonable price? I installed an aftermarket Raceseng knob on my leather boot but I’d like to replace the leather boot with an alcantara one since I have a 3.0 with the alcantara inserts on the seats. Let me know! @Spart @Sharocks

Nah, keeping it to return the car back to factory spec when/if I decide to sell or trade.

Use the VIN of a A91-MT to get the part number for that alcantara shift knob/boot and order it. Here's a VIN I found on a for-sale listing: WZ1DB0G03PW055553.

Email or call your dealer and they'll get you the part number.

Hmm, this could work.

I won't be selling my factory knob for the same reasons as Spart, buuuuuut, if you are willing to sell the leather boot alone, I will buy that from you. I actually only need the boot haha.

Cool I’ll keep you posted if and when I get an alcantara one!

Taking delivery of my car in a couple weeks and Ive been going through this thread. Thinking of going with this company that I used for my honda. They do most custom colours too. shiftsolutionco.com

Have you who have installed the heavier knobs (like the Raceseng Slammer) noticed improved shifter feel?

Yeah, improved shifter feel for sure with the heavier knob. Engagement is more crisp, throws require less force as the momentum due to the heavier weight slides it into the gate. This transmission is one of the best i've used even with the stock 200g knob. Adding a heavier one made it even better.

I wouldn't go heavier than 500 grams, as the tactile feel seems to drop off dramatically above 400-500 grams.

You'd need one of these to adapt the BMW shaft to the correct thread pitch for that knob. https://www.shiftsolutionsco.com/product/euro-shift-knob-thread-adapter-v2

They look really good (and similar to the Raceseng ones) and have a better price point than others out there.

Have you had experience with them in the past? What's the quality like?
There's no way this will compete with Raceseng's quality, and that adapter is going to raise the height of the knob considerably. The Raceseng adapter sleeve puts the knob at the same height as OE.

The biggest improvement I notice was improved smoothness on the shifts from 1 -> 2 and 2->3. My shift knob is closer to 320g (.7 lb) and like @FuzzyRev85 mentioned I would be a bit concerned if the 725g of yours starts to numb away thing instead of allowing you to feel a crisp feedback.

Another thing to keep in mind is that with the addition of the adapter that you will need for that knob, you might end up needing a custom boot. It definitely looks like yours will be a bit taller than what most of us have installed and it's already a tough to get enough of the oem boot to make it look good. You could risk not being able move the lever throughout its full swing without the oem boot tugging on it.
