I’d check dynamic toe. Put the car on the rack, remove the springs and sweep it through the full range of motion and see if the toe does anything funny.

the rear is particularly sensitive with the traction arm lengths. Literally a turn or two can make a big difference.
I can always put the stock traction arms back on and see what happens!

The question still stands around if the alignment guy made sure the suspension was settled when doing the alignment.
Yeah I don’t know, I’ll definitely ask next time. I just figure between the two performance alignment shops that do this stuff day in and day out, they would’ve made sure of that, but you never know!

His toe is in spec. I actually run around the same amount of toe-in in the rear as he does. (2mm each side)

Positive toe is toe-in. Negative is toe-out.

I used to run 1/8th inch (3mm) toe out front and same toe in back on an other FR car but never a Supra. Is that a reasonable amount?

Toe out is aggressive and is traditionally used for sharper turn in. The con is more rotation which the Supra does not need MORE of. Everyone's driving skill and style is different. .02

I read that wrong and thought he was toe out in the back. Thx man & glad y‘all are able to look at it as well. Sucks when any track car feels “off” & not sure why…

BTW, Daytona was canceled for us down here in FL 😭

They had an incident a week or two ago and said it’s unrelated. But I highly doubt it. Regardless, I’ve got a lot of $$$ credit for other track days now hahaha. Daytona was not cheap. So I’ll be getting more bang for my buck now.

that's crazy. i was supposed to be there some weekends ago too. ooof

"The IGT series race is here also this weekend. Sadly, yesterday during practice a Porsche lost a tire, spun into the wall and stopped somewhere on turn 1. He must have been off track far enough that they put up a yellow at start finish, but he sat there for around 10 minutes and no tow truck. A black Porsche Cup car and a cayman ignored the yellow and went into turn one side by side at approximately 160mph. Cup car hit the stopped Porsche. That driver had removed his seatbelts. Died on impact. Other driver in critical."

My biggest issue is understeer with this car...or most cars I track. I come in too hot and then try to rotate with trail braking which over slows me by the time I rotate. So either need to move braking points further and continue aggressive trail braking or slow down more on the straight and turn in with less speed to have some front end grip.

So yes I am overdriving the car and one way of fixing that is driving less aggressive, understeer less, scrub less speed in the corner, get on gas earlier and have faster lap times. Even then I prefer pointy cars.

This is with stock wheels ,suspension, alignment and Federal 200TW tires. I'll be moving to MCS2W swift 12k/11k, vorschlag plates, 275/18 square ECFs and -3.5/-2 camber next time out. Maybe I won't need the toe out on the front.

I'm sure they are still investigating what happened.. :( It's a horrific incident...

In any track session, please please stay in the car strapped in unless you see fire...

More negative camber will help, but a lot of that is probably from those Federal Tires. I can't remember the last time I saw any federal tire at a track day. They were a one hit wonder like 10 years ago for sure. The drift bois seem to still like them though.

You are right but I thought tires would not affect the handling style of the car as in its crappiness that makes it understeer would also make it oversteer and they would balance each other out. Like Tightening up the sway bar on both front and rear.

CHin reported that the track used an out clause to cancel all rentals to repair some asphalt to satisfy IMSA and some higher use racing groups. Not related to death

The death sounded like a series of failures- cascade effect. Car lost a wheel and was stuck on track. red should have come out but station flew a yellow. To cars ignored flag and continued at speed side by side. the disabled car driver removed his belts. HUGE nono one of the cars that ignored flag plowed into him at 160.

My pads were toast last track weekend, wife was driving also - so double duty. Anyways, I had to dial my threshold braking down quite a bit, focused on trail braking even more = more in turn tire scrub. Lap times came down 2 seconds 😂 And similar to Bryan earlier, my tires were toast. Luckily Maxxis tend to drive well from new to cord. Tires will definitely help.

You could ask for a pinch of toe out up front and see how you like it. It doesn’t take much in this car to make a difference. I’m going back to a Sebring alignment (since Daytona cancel) and will ask for the upper limit of spec on my toe. And take her back to -3.5 up front camber and -2.5 in the back. I should ask what Rock and Bryan are running up front and back, given their success with this car on track.

I doubt Daytona would want to report any cancelation related to any faults. Would be my best lawyer hat wearing guess. Rumor is they might be putting up a waist high safety wall, like we have a Sebring.

But you are right, there was a storm of multiple mistakes at play. Incredibly sad but luckily rare event we all can learn from 😞

Is this what you’re still currently running Bryan? @razorlab

And how about you Rock @Rocksandblues ?

I think you both are on a 275 -18 square setup like me. Mine is literally sitting at Autoquest waiting to get put back to my -3.5 and -2.5 camber I was running before. You guys have way more time & experience in this car than I do. If you don’t want to post here, could y’all PM me. Muchas gracias ☺

Also, looking forward to trying out the CR-1s & see if I notice a difference on the 40 sidewall
