Potentially selling my current car toward the end of next year and moving to a GRMN(depending on spec and availability) or 3.0 Supra.

Would like keep the motor stock and just do aggressive aero and suspension, with obvious upgrades to wheels, brakes, seat also completed. Are cooling upgrades necessary if keeping the motor stock, whether to the hood, fenders, or within the engine bay?

Lastly, what are the top Toyota/Supra online vendors that offer track related parts so
I can begin some research over the next year?

I've found the following based on posts here, but wondering if there are others:

So I will jump in on tires and wear. I now am on my 18 th set of different tires and many different alignments and camber settings. Trying to get even tread wear down to the cords to get as much out of them as possible. Have used heat gun for tire temps from outside center and insides. I am still not an expert in this area but I believe if you all are coording the insides then you have too much neg camber. Some tires do want more than others. I get about 6 track days on average. Some of the softer 100 tread wear groups. 3 to 4. I Rotate at least once or twice per track day. Cross rotate if not directional or then fronts to backs. So you may want to back try backing off the neg camber a bit and see how it works. I found that about -3. In front and -2.6 to 2.8 in rear has been about the best. This also depends on how stiff the sway bars are as the car does need to rotate to flatten out the tire so have to play with all of these to try and get them to wear across the whole tire evenly. Anyway they are lot of options in this area but something to consider.

Since nobody knows what the GRMN will be exactly yet, I can't speak to it. For a normal 3.0:

If you track it hard, even stock power will benefit from cooling if you want to lap a lot. Upgrading any heat exchangers/radiators won't do much. Only upgrading the manifold makes an actual difference. A hood vent helps as well. It really depends on how hard you track the car.

Track related vendors you pretty much have covered in your list.

Thanks for the response.

Manifold should be an easy install but I'd like to avoid a hood vent as I'd prefer not to cut into the body if avoidable, but we'll see. Have plenty of time to decide.

Need to find a set of 18 x 10.5 wheels as well. Apex only offers 18x10 or 18x11 for the Supra, so need to figure out if 18x11 square makes sense, or I'll have to find a different vendor for a 10.5.

Then get a different hood like fiber glass or carbon and cut that (if you need the cooling). If your track goals are 10/10ths pushing hard lap after lap and want to keep stock look, drivability, low cost etc.. you are on the wrong platform.

Wheel choice does not matter as you don’t know if you’d like a square setup, or 10.5 or 11 or whatever yet as you said. Just allocate $2500 for wheels $1500 for tires and you are good.

Everyone has their own 10/10ths and since most of us are not racing, I can push 10/10ths in a stockish car or not. I'm not chasing Jackie Ding time trial pace nor any other driver, and the goal is simply having a lighter weight car than I have now, to have some degree of aero as I don't run any now, and to help dial the car in so that it's more stable than what I've been running the past 8 years.

There aren't many options for <3500lb and >2 liter motors available these days, and I do want power hence a 3 liter Supra at minimum, but don't want power at the cost of more weight. Current car is 36xxlb and one of my primary deciding factors in whatever I get next year is that the replacement is lighter.

Thanks for input.

I see you are in NY, what tracks do you drive at, or plan on frequenting? Also, how many track days a year? What group are in you in? Novice/Intermediate/Advanced?

Hood vent isn't a must have so you should be good there.

Bunch of 10.5's avail for the Supra.

That deal is no more I inquired last month. They changed the SKU on those wheels (but not the wheels themselves) and now want $375 a piece for the same exact thing.

Ya snooze ya lose. ;)

I'm seeing them for $350 everywhere. $1400 still a lot cheaper than $2500

Hey, just realized I run with you. You passed me a bunch this past Tuesday. I'm in a silver F80. I only run LRP and WGI.

Had a rough year running R7s, including this past Tuesday, due to constant vibration issues from pickup, and will move back to strictly running 100-200tw next year.
Want to move to a sports car based platform thats faster than my car, but also cheaper on consumables. My car is 8 years old now so also slightly concerned something major may fail soon despite having zero problems throughout my ownership.

So that's why I'm here. Exploring one of the only options for an upgrade while I run one more year in my current car as I tossed far too much money into it last year and want to get the most of those upgrades.
