Is a Lamborghini 100% Audi?Yes ok it's almost 100% BMW. I don't care about that. BMW switchgear, HVAC, iDrive, and steering wheels feel great to the touch and use. All I want is 3 pedals and a stickshift.
Sure but compare a Hurracan interior to that of a R8 and notice the difference. Anyways I don't care about the interior complaints like most people are having with the Supra. Everyone is bitching and moaning about it being all BMW. That's a good thing and I don't get why people are complaining. I drive a 135is and having BMW switch gear, HAVC, iDrive and steering wheel in the new Supra will be just like getting in my 135 but offer a different driving experience. I'd much rather have this BMW sourced interior in a $50k Toyota rather than Toyota make it themselves. This isn't being sold as a Lexus, it's being sold as a Toyota. They really aren't all that great in their interiors. Is a Lamborghini 100% Audi?
I think everyone is so thrown by BMW's involvement that they focus more on the BMW similarities than the similarities to other Toyota's/Lexus's as seen in your post! Plus, vents are similar to those found in the new Camry. Although hardware is 100% BMW, Toyota did well integrating it into their own design and FT-1 foundation! The red interior accents on the door trim being limited to surrounding the driver and horizontal scheme on the along the passenger side are design queues that were introduced as far back at the FT-HS concept!Interesting observation i just made

I see it the horizontal design a good bit in the new corolla, Avalon, rav4 etc.I haven't gotten through the 2nd page of this thread yet, but here is my feeling thus far having only seen these 2D images on my monitor.
This is not sufficient information to form an opinion to vote on, IMHO.
The top of the dash is stitched, which resembles other current Toyota products. I am searching around trying to find other Toyota clues but there aren't any. This unlike the FR-S/86 which contains all sorts of Toyota clues from past and present. Perhaps I need to examine photos of the 2000 GT interior. Nope, no resemblance there.
OK so this car's designers might might not succumbed to the playfulness or quirkiness they applied to the 86. C'mon the cost of the old school digital clock and the T pattern in my FR-S dash trim was time spent by designers who sweat the fun details.
OK , so now on to the Supra. When I sit in this car will I feel I am driving a Toyota? Aside from the logo on the steering wheel, are there other hints?
I suspect not, as this car is in a sense a Lexus-quality vehicle being sold by Toyota, and Lexus and BMW are a bit more serious. German companies aren't known for whimsical/quirky details unless we're talking non-conventional designs like Isetta.
I am sure the quality and the experience driving this car will be good, but in many ways I do not at this point see many interior points that resemble Toyota designs. Wouldn't have expected the nostalgic thing to have been dropped with the interior but again just as working with Subaru has certain limitations, so does with BMW. This is all for the use of their inline six turbo and to produce at an economy of scale Toyota wishes to meet, which many will appreciate. This is a great option for $10K less than the starting price of a Corvette in Canada and probably a lot lower CO2 emissions.
Yup, and even then, that's the basic ZF shifter, not even a BMW part. The Alfas, Maseratis, etc with ZF trans' all have similar shifters.Honestly, the only thing giving it the BMW vibe is the shifter. Everything else is just like any other car interior.
