Like the quality of the video. Very much so but I’ll be honest it’s very reliant on the word of one man (all your sources I believe stem from him). That man being Tada. He is going to say whatever it takes seeing as his career rests on the outcome of this car.

Personally I feel even if Toyota sent back engines to be tested that they’ve been used. BMW came out publically stating their car was going to be quicker and the worst part is it/ true.

I think BMW had all the power in this relationship

Tada San retired 7 years ago actually haha. And my references are listed in the video description. Believe whatever you like.

Tetsuya Tada is the chief engineer....

Reputation is very important in Japanese culture regardless of retirement..

Your references are nearly all interviews with him...

No other source.

Lol? I’m honestly surprised how many people on this forum actually hit “post reply” when they type all this useless shit. This isn’t rocket science, it’s word of mouth. And if the chief engineer is saying such about the engine then he is saying such. Obviously any adult should take word of mouth with a grain of salt. However, this is the information we have. Like Guff said, believe what you want.

The BMW has more horsepower and costs more money, who cares? What does that tell you about the balance of power in a relationship? Nothing.

Mayasuki Kai, Shigeki Toyomama, Alain Dujardin, Adrian Von Hooydonk, and Florian Dietrich are all also sources if you care to know.

Again, it's far more multifaceted than you or I could comprehend, but we get to make our mildly informed blanket statements on the internet while they don't, so I guess we know best?

If Tada San retired 7 years ago, how was he able to help build this car? Didn't this car take 7 years to build? I'm curious as to how that retirement works lol.

Well I hope they paid him handsomely lol. He aged quite a lot since the GT86.

Basically, Akio said "Nah dude you ain't done yet" and here we are.

One of the best paying jobs I have ever worked as an engineer was after my department (and by extension yours truly) was let go for being "redundant and expendable". They then brought me back, less than 48 hours later, under a very lucrative contract as a private consultant.

Most MKIV owners don’t disconnect the odometer, including myself. That’s a pretty asinine statement

Great! Then save up at least $60k for a 1994 TT 6spd that will have “50k original miles” (disconnect of the digital odo that most MKIV owners have already done on their cars) with more than 70% discontinued parts and a discontinued Getrag with grinding 3rd gear and enjoy it til’ the wheels fall off. I mean, what more can I say to you? Oh, just swap in a CD009 or T56 Magnum you say?? Well, that doesn’t make it a “real” Supra anymore....right?....since we are on the topic.

Myself....patiently waiting. :D

HKS, Titan, Real Street, etc... all have families and employees to feed. You bet your ass the MKV will be one of their cars that will be heavily supported!

To say most MKIV’s haven’t had this done is even more asinine. After the F&F, many MKIV owners (especially the 6spd TT cars) had this done to retain value when reselling. You were probably too young to even know this. Because the ecu doesn’t record the miles like on newer cars, all they did was disconnect the odo and drive it until resale time.

One of the signs back in the day on MKIV’s was the warped top of the dash....this only happened when people would pry on the upper cluster to remove it. I’m talking before people were swapping clusters (Auto to 6spd), etc... when there was NO NEED to get behind the cluster. Supra’s werent known for many cluster failures. Many many MKIV owners have swapped their dashboards because of this.

Go into your garage and take a pic of your upper dash by the cluster....curious to see if you have had any “work done” on your gauge cluster. I have several friends who own MKIV’s, all of which currently have their odo’s disconnected....and i will NEVER mention their names :D.

Your friends are dicks! :D

Speaking of which, I had to pull my dash apart to replace the CEL module since mine stopped working (very common and had a broken solder joint). If I remember correctly, if you bought a new odometer module from Toyota, they had to input the milage. So if that person cheated, it would probably show up on the carfax report.
