Put down a deposit yesterday. Dealer said I am 1 of 1 on their list and they will not be taking additional orders.

A friend of mine holds a high position at the dealership, he said that the Toyota execs just had a meeting and they were allocated 2 cars.

With that being said, the dealership had no idea which to cars they would be, but asked me to send them my preference of options/trim/color and that they would do their best to get it.

Also told at anytime my deposit is 100% refundable.

This is a MSRP dealership.

I wasnā€™t planning on getting the Supra, but when I found out the above details, I couldnā€™t say no.

Can you tell me where you are located? I am in upstate NY, and my dealer told me I was number one on a list of three. I put down a refundable 2000 dollar deposit, and was told they would do their best to get me color and options I wanted but could not promise it. I basically have first chance to buy the car at MSRP, and upon seeing the car in person can decide if I want it or can pass it to the second person on the list. They are telling me they really have no details on when or how many cars they will receive at this time. I will be very surprised if we see these cars anytime before end of July, beginning of Aug. Looking forward to seeing this car in person. May go down to the NY city car show just for that.

Hey guys and gals!! Just placed my order today for a Launch Edition! 1st choice white/red+black, 2nd choice red/black. Placed a $500 refundable deposit down on the car. I spoke to one of the sales managers at Red McCombs Toyota in San Antonio, who told me to expect updates over the coming few months to update me on the carā€™s status and pricing, and what number allocation I would be getting from the dealership. I was also told that I wouldnā€™t see the car until late August, early September. What an exciting day!

Contacting Rick Hendrick Toyota of Concord, so we'll see if they have any info. Much further from home, but I've bought cars from them in the past. So we'll see.

Edit: i would be 3rd on the list, and there is a deposit. Salesman is verifying what markup, if any.

Edit 2: no markup known, likely low. (Hendrick can afford it). 3rd on list here, now we wait and see which one gets me info first

So I received some wonderful news via email from Larry H miller Toyota in Colorado Springs

"I just want you know that we are going to get our first Supra this July. This Supra has already sold, but we will get 7 more this year. Most of them are expected sell before they get here. The first Supra sold this year sold for more than $2,000,000 above MSRP at an auction. We are pricing our Supra at $50,000 over MSRP. Please, let me know if you would like to claim your Supra before it sells."

$50,000 above MRSP. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

If you're one of the fools willing to pay this, please forward your information to me, I have some unique items I'd like to sell you at a very reasonable markup.:rofl:

50k? So almost double MSRP. And letā€™s be very honest, it may be cool but thereā€™s a good chance it wonā€™t ever be a legend. So who in the hell would ever pay that much?

Hell, 5K over MSRP is pushing it. 100 grand is 911 territory (ok, a stripped base 911) but the car is supposed to compete with the Boxster./cayman.

For the latest comments, I would've thought that was some overly exaggerated information. But today, I'm starting to believe that in N. America, the prices will soar high up.

A dealer nearby was stating they'd markup premium by $10k, and $20k for launch.Because if a few dealers will have either huge markups or bidding wars, expect to see the final price over $100K USD. Look at my texts in the screen shots.

It's insanity. My interest was already waning given the lack of stick, fake vents and long wait to actually get one. Now it's about gone.

You are completely right. I decided a long time ago I am not willing to pay any markup. None. If they do I will turn around and buy a M2 Competition with a stick, GT350, RS3, or I will hold onto the GT4. I personally think they are pushing it at the price they're asking for.

At first I thought a $5k markup wasn't too bad considering it's a Supra. But after reading a lot of articles, I keep seeing one consistent statement from Toyota, "We want to leave it up to the fans, the enthusiasts..."

But that's a lot of bs lol. How can we, the fans, afford to add any racing performance elements to this car if we can't afford it?!

confirmation email about the ADM for the saleswoman :
"Yes, will be getting just 7 more Supras. Perhaps, you are thinking our Launch Supra was the limited edition. We are pricing the Supra at $50,000 above MSRP. Is there a price that would work for you? If you let me know, I can check and see if we can sell it to you for the price you are asking. What price works for you?"

Well.. at least she's willing to negotiate a little..

Good Lord....I was looking forward to buying this car but after reading all these posts about markups Iā€™m definitely out....I live in Dallas-Fort Worth area and called 3 dealers (Dallas, Plano, Grapevine) not one is willing to take a deposit.
