The LFA is the successor to the 2000GT. Both a similar price point and performance point for the era, not to mention exclusivity.

I think the supra sits below them. An LFA or 2000GT for the masses.
True, those two points I did not factor in as I was strictly speaking about how the car looks. Even Toyota likes to compare both the 86 and MKV to the 2000GT.

Interesting tidbit, its front end closely resembles the Sports 800

Whenever any reporter or individual talks about the Supra on the internet, there is always a comment about "doesn't come with a manual yet, hopefully in the future, etc, etc". I mean a poll on this group had members taking a manual B58 Supra over an automatic Toyota engine Supra by a large margin. That's how much people want a manual in this car.

And after all that Toyota says "if there is demand we will consider it".

Damn Toyota how much more obvious does it need to get. Do we need to sign somewhere that we are buying manual equipped Supras? Down payments? Do we need to have demonstrations on the street yelling bring back the manual? Whats the deal here?

I don't understand this either, If people buy it then it's successful as an auto and they won't provide a manual. If they don't buy it then it's a failure and they won't spend more money on developing it.

My only assumption is they expect people to put a refundable deposit on them and then "change their minds" because it's not manual?! Which isn't logical by any means as no one is going to want to waste their money or time on this.

The internet isn't going to cut it either as you can't guarantee who's behind the keyboard (mostly trolls, 12 year olds, people who can't afford it, etc).

We, the people, have no hand in this no matter how you look into it. If anyone does, it's probably journalists and youtubers who will make reviews of it and If many of them complain about the lack of a manual and insist on having it then Toyota will do something about it.

Clarkson loved the 86 twins and didn't complain about the lack of power. All reviews that mattered showed how you don't need a ton of power to enjoy the car. Toyota left the power as it is. If anything they made it slower at high speeds by putting a 4.3:1 rear end in the latest models.

My opinion is a manual is coming, it's just too easy and cheap to provide that they would be crazy not to. The 340i transmission literally bolts on to the B58. Just imagine all the hype a manual A90 will create when videos of it drifting show up. It will boost sales easily and Toyota would be crazy not to do it.

Iā€™m one of those sales for a manual for sure. Iā€™m really really hoping for but not betting on a targa as well. The mkv probably wonā€™t be in my garage without a manual and/or targa option, I hope they do it, if not Iā€™ll find something else to join my mkiv TT 6 speed targa.

Iā€™m looking more for a weekend canyon carver, not a track attack car. So a manual and targa option would tick that box for me

Has anyone here seen the A80 and A90 side to side? In the photo they both appear to be more or less about the same size.

According to the internet, the MKV is a miata and the MKIV is a challenger so its great to see them side by side like that, it will be interesting to see them together in person.
